Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a new 38-40 inch lcd tv, and my recent browse through the sony site shows me a couple of new ranges (i'm sure these are models for 2010 - weren't there earlier)

If the NX series looks anything like in the photos, then it's just outright spectacular, and @ very competitive prices by Sony's standards.

What i'd like to know is if anybody's seen these new series in person, in a showroom, and comment on overall fit and finish, looks, etc. I doubt anything has changed internally, so the picture/sound quality should be the same as their earlier low end series.

the new tvs like the nx range do have good aesthetics, but they do reflect more then EX range and the 09models.
the new tvs don't offer any improvements in image processing(except pehaps the high end models),they do have slightly better contrast, more efficient in terms of power consumption.
the sound and build quality however are a bit inferior compared to the 09 models.still better then majority of the competition.

^the NX range have better aesthetics and has a infinite panel or sony calls monolitic design.

the BX400 has lesser iinput connections it also lacks the ambient light sensor, perhaps comes with a different backlight.
the EX500 100hz does improve motion a bit,can be noticed in fast motion scenes like animal chase etc.

^ I'm getting the EX400 for Rs 58,000. Is that a good purchase?

well if its warranty then its a good price, but if its not like the grey market then u should get it for about 48k.

Well, it's the first time i've seen Sony come up with a really good looking design in affordable price range - so if you can push that 5k more, i'd suggest the NX version. Those monolithic designs look rather good.

^ I think that the newer designs are going to be a resting place for lots of dust.. which is going to be really visible under light. I found them to be too glossy.

Sei keep us updated on your purchase. I'm intending to pick one out of BX400 and EX400. If the price increase for the EX400 is justified, I'll take that.

I'm in too, been lookin for 40" for long time.. Even samsung will do !

Placed the order yesterday night for the Sony KLC-40BX400. Will get it delivered by 5 this evening. Got it delayed so I can be home when it reaches my place. Not much difference between the BX400 and the EX400 except 2 more HDMI slots for 3k more. 2 are more than enough for me. Maybe some people need 4 HDMI inputs, but even if in the future I go in for a PS3, 2 will suffice for me. There is no difference in the picture quality at all. Same panel, same specs, same everything.

Oh yeah, there is a headphone out too, but doubt anyone's going to use that with a 40" LCD. The Ambient Sensor on the EX400 (which apparently changes picture details according to light is horse$&^*. I tried checking it out there and couldn't really see any noticeable difference. ) And it's not like the lights in my room are going to keep changing every hour.

Last but not the least, the BX400's got a FM radio option which I had thought of checking out, but forgot. So, don't really know what that means. :P

The EX400 had a weird gray bottom panel which was not looking at all good with the overall black body of the TV. Yes, only the bottom panel was gray! Weird..

Also, I got rid of my 6 year old 29" AKAI CRT in the exchange scheme. Got me a 4k discount. So, the TV finally cost me 54k.

KLV-40BX400 : BX Series : BRAVIA LCD TV : Sony India

Will post a show-off + mini-review over the weekend.! :)

PS: Still thinking the EX400 is better? Actually, the BX400 is 300 grams lighter than the EX400. That sealed the deal for me!!:rofl:

Nice! So 60k is the retail price in the Sony outlet? Isn't that expensive?

It's 58k at Vijay Sales. 4k off for the 29". Rest all places, they were giving only 2-3k for the TV. A bit on the expensive side maybe, but I wanted to pickup one with warranty and these guys let me test the TV as much as I wanted. Croma and Vijay Sales allow that kind of freedom. Even installed VLC on one of their demo laptops and ran the HD clips I had got. :P

PS: I had taken Ice Age3 720p for testing. That guy had asked me for my pendrive and copied the file. For the next 2 days, they were running that on their 55" LED TV. It was looking gorgeous. One thing which I noticed was that they run only HD prints on their entire line of LED TVs. And only SD/DTH on their other line of TVs.

Do post pics of the setup as well and the input connectors. :)

Congrats on the purchase. I might need the additional 2 HDMI ports. Might go for the EX400 if the TV doesn't look all that ugly as you've posted. :P

Intelligent sales department, given the fact that most people have not even heard of terms like HD/Blu-Ray/720p etc.

the ambient sensor does come handy especially at night, when this mode is switched ON,it adjust the backlight much lower then the backlight set at 0.

i for one find lcd brightness at night a bit bright,so i leave the light sensor on.
power consumption at 0 settings for eg on a 32" is 63watts at night with light sensor on its 55watts.

anyway congrats on ur purchase.

That happens possibly everywhere in our country. Most of the folks who aren't aware of the media being played assumes they get the similar PQ on the panel when hooked to the cable/DTH connections. Only to be cheated later. :P

I intend to take a couple of 1080p and 720p rips (which shows up with and without black borders on my present Dell 16:10 LCD) to see how it fairs. And possibly a 700MB rip.

Hahaha, even the salesman there must not be aware of this. As always, you are a store of information.:wow::goodjob:
