Recently, I have been following the antics of Trupti Desai as well as that of the SC on entry of woman and find it both amusing and stupid. I am surprised there has been no thread about the same.

I for one, am a follower of Sabarimala. Now, if the entry of women of a certain age has been barred - does it make sense?

What is the problem with women being allowed to enter temples ?

i am not religious. school textbooks told me that it's an ancient india practice of barring women from temples. okay, women weren't given much powers back then but what's stopping them to build their own temples now?

Its discrimination plain and simple. Just like caste discrimination is used to deny entry to people on the basis of caste. One of many stupidities of religion.

In any case, Indians try to portray themselves as a race that recognizes and respects women, but the reality is far from it.

You get to realize that very well when you hear useless old Ass-wipes like that Dwaraka Shankaracharya spew their nonsense on how women entering the temples would result in increased rapes. What is that supposed to mean?

These are old rituals based on old logic and information available at that time. It was considered impure for menstruating women to go into temples. Now science has revealed that its a natural bodily function and there is nothing impure about it. So you need to upgrade your rituals as per that knowledge. Religion, especially Hinduism is not set in stone. Lets not make it like some of the other Semitic religions where everything is set in stone. In hinduism, plurality of god, thoughts and ideas are intrinsic and indispensable.

The problem is that the people leading religions, especially hinduism in old times, were some of the wisest men around. They were also teachers, educators and scientists. Now we have old hags and jobless idiots taking up that place, and their mediocrity/stupidity reflects in their thinking and their resistance to progressive change.
