Hi guys,

Since I will be getting my brand new Opteron 165 CCBWE 0551 UPMW, I thought of starting this thread where I will post all the updates and progress that I get.

It is said that if sincere effort is put, then the results are always sweet, so I hope God grants me a ub3r OC this time around..............target 3 Ghz!

Ok first stumbling block: No thermal paste......... Since I have the CoolerMaster Hyper6+, I will be needing some good quality thermal paste to apply on the CPU. So for the time being I will hv to make do with the stock HSF. Can someone tell me where to source some good quality thermal paste and how?

Thnx

Oye lallu... pehle batne ka tha naa... idar mein se coolermaster ka main ship karta... chal... do let me know if you want CM ka Paste...

lol, yea could hv done tht, didnt strike my mind, since was so busy running around arranging $$$ to send to u....... YGPM!

guys, check the voltages out......... the 12V rail (actually my PSU has dual 12V rails, so i dunno which rail this is) is showing 12.11 V which falls to around 11.96V during 3D. is it okay and within safe limits?

Its fine kidoman...The voltages are within ATX specs. So its definitely safe. You might want to reduce the fluctuation though to improve the OC though. And get a frigging multimeter to measure the voltages. Most of the software/BIOS are wrong in reporting voltages.

OT : Pls check if the transfer is done kido.

Raghu.

heee heee.......:bleh: sweet use of words..
@ kidoman BOL about that 3 GHz thingy :hap2:

LOL....... who knew this would happen.

Now the system is up and running with a Opteron 165 (yeah baby) but at stock with the Stock HSF (because I dont have any TIM  to apply to the Hyper6+)

I will systematically overclock this CPU hoping that someone takes the MSI off my hand so I can do myself some justice and get a Ultra-D !

Hmm, highly interesting...........

The 12V rail (dunno which one as the CM is dual rail) is dropping from 12.16 to 12.04 with a dual SP2004 run. The power req of the system increases from 198W to 252W with OC @ 2190 Mhz.

Is everything okay?

Those temps... They look insane for that speed... How hot is it there... Also install that Hyper 6+ if you plan to go any further...

hmm topping 50 C now.........that too at stock Vcore (1.35V).......buhaaa........

the rails (according to everest) have not dropped any further. total power req of the system now jumps from 198 W (at idle) to 264 W (dual SP2004, priority 8). I dun wanna imagine how it will be once i fire up my GFX card too......

yes a proper HSF with proper TIM (like my Hyper6+ with AS5+) will help the temps a lot. Plus i have ordered some nice high CFM fans to ventilate my system. Till then, i dunno if i want to increase Vcore from stock.

50C for this overclock is high :( .
Rahul this stock heatsink has heatpipes and is said to be better than XP90 ;)

^^ oops my bad after replying i realized that ..... anyways i don't think it is be better than XP90 ...... then must be some problem in the fixing of the HS ...... try to reseat it again ....

Hmm, its not better than XP90.......... the comparision was made with the XP90 fitted with the same 80 mm delta that sits on the stock Opty 165....... a XP90 with a proper panaflo 85 CFM fan is way better.

Did my first vcore increment. @ 1.375 V now. Got a BSOD when botting with stock Vcore @ 280 x 9. Priming.........

Lets see what I get....... :D
