CPU/Mobo Rs482/ASUS V8N

Sup folks,
Planning to buy a comp soon(time to upgrade my Duron 850 :tongue: ). Got my config figured out -

Venice 3000+
1GB Kingston DDR 400
160GB Seagate
7600 GT PCIe

Now, M/B choice is between RS482(4900) and Asus V8N(4000) .

Checked out some reviews, not much diff b/w the 2.
Now, the confusion stems form the fact that I read on a site that these mobos support only ATI and NVidia cards respectively. Is that true??.

I still dream about owning an x1800xt :ohyeah: . Right now i/m set on a 7600GT. Don't want to have to change the mobo later on( dont want to upgrade for atleast 1.5 years) .

Any advice?

P.S. Advice on config will be appreciated. My budget is 50k :(
 
Chaos is right. Get the A8N-E. For 5.4 K, its a great board and is very stable with good OC options too. BTW mods, shouldn't this be posted here - The Purchase Recommendations Section ?
 
Don't buy a 7600GT, it isn't that good, consider a X1800GTo arnd 14k for Sapphire.

Better still 7900GT for 20k + tax

Don't go with 1gb

take transcned or hynix d43(but ntoo many fakes in the market) instead of kingston
 
^^Techboy where the hell is the X1800 GTO available for 14k?? Last i heard it was going for >15k with very poor availability wheres the 7600 GT is readily available for arnd 12k.

If ur buget is 50k u have quite a few options. Get 2 GB RAM if u can(2X1GB sticks) otherwise stick with 1 GB. Another recommendation for the A8N-E from me too.
 
Well i wont get the A8N-E. Its overpriced for what it does. Its decent but not worth the Rs5000 tag. There are better overclocking motherboards for cheaper - Krypton 6100-M9, Asrock 939Dual SATA2.....

I would second/third whatever the A8NE for 5.5k or lesser now!!:)

Many have that, have used it and prefer it over others for long term use!!
And i find personal experiences more reliable than Reviews!!:cool2:
Unless you can afford the DFI UltraD for some extreme OCing!!:cool2:

Also if you plan to Overclock, you may ask my OC Gurus if its preferred to get a mobo with onboard graphics!!

The A8NE is capable of Decently High Fuss free OCing and i personally prefer it over Budget Overclocking boards!!
Can do 2.4-2.5G on a 3000+( depending other components), and thats what most use for a decent 24x7 OC anyways!!:cool2:

I see no point in buying a board capable of 2.7-3G, unless you wanna do that!!:cool2:

For the simple reason that i feel lower the price, there has to be some compromise somewhere and thats generally the Quality of components- which matter in long term reliability!!

And with its present price f 5.5k or lower, its VFM compared to an UltraD- i had purchased it for 7k several months back- UltraD wasn't launched then!!:cool2:

And this A8NE goes into my b**ch/HTPC Rig housed in an Antec OvertureII cabby, that needs to be cool and stable- hope to get a DFI soon for some Tweaking- really got loads of time to experiment and learn!!:cool2:
 
Lol...Just dont compare the A8N-E to the DFI Ultra D. The DFI easily mods to SLI and is way better than the Asus, with loads of voltage and tweaking options.

And though it usually is not preferable to get a motherboard with onboard graphics for overclocking, the Biostar is an Exception (yes thats a capital E) And all the cheaper motherboards listed below are better choices than the ASUS A8N-E

Biostar 6100-M9 (mATX so lesser expansion slots is the only gripe)
Asrock 939Dual SATA2
Foxconn NF4 (based on the same chipset as the Asus and way cheaper)

Also what good is the SLi mod when someone not SLi??
And how much will a 3000+ OCed at 2.4-2.5G on an ASUS and DFi differ in performance??

I have also just explained my point on why i wouldnt prefer budget boards!!:cool2:
IMHO, After OCing the CPU, the mobo is also stressed and this is where good mobos can withstand the added stress for a longer period of time, due to better quality of components used!!

Also, if the need arises, i wouldnt be very comfortable strapping some heavy aftermarket cooler to these budget mobos- biostar i havent seen, Asrock i have!!
I was scared to use on my TtBT on the Asus which Experienced fellas rubbished, But even they would think 10 times before doing that on a budget mobo unless its expendable- which in fact is, to the guys i asked!!:P

Or get one from TE market- Just put a 'WTB-want to buy Asrock/Biostar/A8NE' and someone might be ready to sell theirs to get a DFI or something or ship it to you for a nominal charge!!:cool2:

A pal is doing 2G with a 3000+ on an A8N VM and have to confirm if it can do more!!

Else i would say, put in some more and get the A8NE 2.0 if overclocking!!:cool2:
If not, get the Foxconn NF4 mobo that Darklord's dealer has or A8N VM (or A8N VN CSM if you need more features)!!

Lol. And if you dont want SLI then dont do the mod. Thats all.

There wont be any difference in their performance if they are at the same speed. DFI usually clocks higher than the ASUS, thats what makes the difference.

The budget mobos I have mentioned have consistently achieved better overclocks and I havent heard of any abnormal failure rates. So they can take the load of running an OCed CPU. I also know lotsa people using them with heavier heatsinks like the scythe ninja with no troubles at all.

So I still stand by what I said - A8N-E is simply not worth the extra 1.5k at all. The 3 mobos are way better and I dont see any reason why someone should buy the ASUS over them.
