Just curious.Has anyone successfully attempted it yet? I just got meself a new slim line model & was about to try it out but just before tying out those oh-so confusing guides on the internet was just wondering if anyone has tried this first hand & was able to boot games successfully.Help & comments appreciated.;)

^Any specific reason why? I have seen this happening at one of my local PS2 game parlours.I haven't had the time to ask him how it works though. It relatively saves a lot of your lens life & cuts down your load times drastically.I don't see any reason why it ain't worth it compared to the mundane disc swap routine.:S

Anyway ballistic that is the link I have been following for sometime now but unfortunately I have burnt a copy of USB Advance on a CD but while booting it off via my PS2 it won't recognise it.:(

Any other suggestions?

can we download and create DVD's for PS2 and play them on a modded PS2?
Ya same Noob Question here!!!!new to the ps2!!!!any spl care to be taken????do any of you do it????is it safe to that???:bleh: , i mean maybe the :ahem: stuff just spoils the ps2 or something???? i was enquring around and almost everyone just got their games from local shops!!!!anyone can clarify????:)

^^ Yes.

Ethan. Give it a shot. Im saying not worth it because im lazy to type. You'll end up wasting about a day. And be dissappointed. USB Advance has extremely low compatibility. If you had the old series i think V12 and below, then it would def. be worth it.

you can actually do that man make sure that u download the image file and write at low speeds otherwise they will have a problem.....

btw any1 here has that SMS media player for PS2

I've got a PS2 myself and this suggestion will be useful, PS2's SCPH - 75001 and above do not utilize any of the usb slots for an external HDD or Pen/thumb drive, I bought myself a 2 gig card, its wasted now :cry5:

hmmm.....ok but SMS media player i asked for is not for the USB.....but for playing Divx movies with PS2

Are you sure? Have you tried any HDD's on it? I tried this yesterday but was not able to boot the USBAdvance disc that I had burnt.I also loaded it on the HDD with the same procedure as mentioned on the Afterdawn guide but no effect.I am using the latest SCPH-9006 series of PS2.Not sure which mod chip is inserted though. This is a long tiring procedure but if it works then all's good.May have to pay a visit to the PS2 parlour & get an idea how they pulled this off. It's pretty strange the people at the parlour seem like douchebags but dunno how they got this one to work.

Thanks for your replies though pepople.:)

^^ which media did you use to burn the USB Advance? I use the sony green, burnt it on a speed of 2x. Above 2x you will get mixed results. Anything that you burn for the ps2 above 2x or 4x (depends on media) the PS2 is going to have a hard time reading it. After like 6 attempts i found that out. So i got myself a CDRW and burnt it at a speed of 4x and my USB advance gets booted up. THe Ps2's in the parlour are they using USBadvance aswell?

I used a normal Moserbaer media.Burnt it at 16x which was the lowest speed it showed me in Nero.Should have tried DVD Decrypter though.Anyway will try giving it another shot.BTW how did you get a RW media to get detected on it? I mean PS2 doesn't read rewritable media right? :S

As for the parlour I have seen it from a distant though so can't tell which software was being used.My brother who recently visited it said it was on a slim PS2 & would pop with a list where all the games loaded on the HDD & it would boot straight off.So assuming it could either be USBeXtreme or USBAdvance.

The modchip which allows backup games to run off a HDD is about 2-3k more expensive than the normal modchip. Plus there is the cost of the HDD itself. Now, the worst case scenario with your PS2 is that the lens dies twice in the consoles lifetime. The cost for repair will be 2x1k. The parlor guy most probably prefers the HDD because the guys that come to play want a variety of games and logistically it is easier for him to dump all the high demand games on the HDD than to search for the game discs everytime. For home use, DVDs of most frequently played games and a RW-DVD for games you want to try is a more cost-effective (all things considered) option.

For media, it is a different story.

Ethan Dude !!!!

You shud have called me.....;)

anyways PS2 HDD setup is costly & i mean it :) its around 4-5k. I know the process & thought...Burning the Disc is the Better & cheaper Option than setting up an HDD....also try Burning PS2 games @ 8x :)

I remember seeing a few shots of ps2 games in HD a year back or so and everything(lights, colours) looked exaggerated to the point of ridiculousness.

Dude, don't give false info, the bolded sentence is crap. You just need an HD loader, an HDD and any modded PS2 will do, don't mislead anyone mate.

I can't find a way to edit my post, another requirement is that u must have a PS2 scph - 75001 + is u wanna use pendrives, can anyone tell me how to edit posts??

+ HDD loaders aren't compatible with every game, its like 60%

Errr, yea that was crap about the mod chip... And Errr, any PS2??? Ill give you my PS2 Slim, which is V14 and will give you how much ever you want, can you add a HDD to it?
I mean for gods sake. Those newer slim's DONT i repeat DONT HAVE A CONNECTOR FOR THE HARD DISK. Only a USB disk is an option (external / pen drive you make the choice). Im just saying that it is not impossible. ITS TIME CONSUMING + Dissapointments ahead. USBAdvance / Extreme is just CRAP. PERIOD!

And yes the PS2 CAN read cdrw's. Im going to go ahead and say yes it can read the DVDRW too, but i havent confirmed this personally. But if im not mistaken this increases the wear and tear on the PS2 lens.

And let me reiterate, get a green sony dvd, burn what ever you want to burn on a speed of 2x or 4x. And post your results back here. Hope fully your burner can burn it at that speed. IF mine can im sure yours can too. Im using a Lite On 16X bought it a year back.
