GSC-Gameworld developers have published the first Q&A on their Facebook page.

Q: What will be the biggest difference between S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and the previous games, if any?
A: In brief, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will offer new story, new set characters (with some good old ones) and, of course, the new engine powering it.

Q: Will there be more of a survival element to STALKER 2?
A: Yes.

Q: What features have been removed/compromised in the PC version due to the multiplatform release?
A: Since we develop primarily on PC, you won't see any compromises in the PC version. The key difference between the PC and console versions will be the beauty of graphics (meaning PC will offer more of visual effects).

Q: Will there be any new kinds of interaction with NPCs?
A: How do you mean? It's difficult to answer this one.

Q: Will Sidorovich be in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2?
A: I will refrain from answering this one for now.

Q: Will the faction wars return?
A: No.

Q: Will the interface (inventory, map, etc) on the pc version suffer (like other games have) by trying to cater for console systems?
A: No, whatsoever.

Q: Will there be any new mutants?
A: Yes.

Q: How many weapons will be in Stalker 2?
A: It's difficult to give the quantitative figure at this point.

Q: Which part of the zone will it take place? Or is it the zone at all?
A: We'll be locating the game in the triangle of CNPP, the cities of Chernobyl and Chernobyl 2 (where the huge antenna is located).

Q: Is Zone going to be a large single [area]?
A: Let's postpone this question for now.

Q: Will it support DX11?
A: Yes.

Q: Will we see more X-Labs and secret underground complexes?
A: Yes.

Q: Will GSC expand on the import-a-weapon feature introduced with Nimble, and allow players access to more varied and custom weapons from outside the Zone by importing them through specialist contacts?
A: We have some interesting new ideas on this matter.

Q: Will artifacts be something we can go out and transmute through Anomalies?
A: No. However, the area of artifact application will expand.

Been a die-hard fan of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise. The game is expected to release in 2012. More mutants, artifacts, anomalies, armour, weapons wOOt! :ohyeah:

Whatever it is, I really hope they come up with a stable release this time. Previous versions were so damn buggy, I lost count how many times I've downloaded the patches. :|

Loved all the games and the different endings each one of them had. Kauzy where art thou! :P

Stalker not for me!..Too scary..and everytime a monster shows up I jus panic and jus spray my limited amount of ak47 ammo and die... :ashamed:
But its a different breed of game, hope I can gear up for it..:P

I never liked Stalker games, dunno why :'(
That's perfectly alright Aman. Some games just do not appeal to some of us. In my case, the fighting genre. Never liked the Mortal Kombat, SF, Tekken, their spin-offs, crossovers and what not! :/

You'll love this game if you were to explore the options a bit. Initially it may be a bit boring with the not-so-good weapons, scarce ammo, poor armor etc. Once you start doing those side missions, switching over to better weapons, finding anomalies - mixing and matching them, doing a bit of trading etc. the game becomes interesting.

I'd still say try Stalker: Call of Pripyat. Though it is a sequel to the first game, if you read up on the story a bit, you'll get a grip of it and can begin CoP. I loved all the titles and CoP was the best of the lot, although Shadows of Chernobyl started it all. :D

lets just hope its not x-ray engine this time...wishful thinking??? SoC has a better storyline and yes, it is the fire-starter :D My first encounter with controller can still give me shivers...

Hmm But i don't dislike the shooting genre at all, just don't like the STALKER series. Maybe i'll give it a try again later.

I too underestimated STALKER at 1st. WTF story, lame game play and crap.
But my second playthrough changed it all. All it took was a little bit of patience and wit.

i tries stalker clear sky and couldnt understand why was i killed every time with radiation .... finally left it

It's not just the brilliantly designed atmosphere that captures you, the A.I and the shooting mechanism also feels real. When you kill a bunch of enemies you feel good, because in STALKER every NPC,bandit is almost as strong as you are. Early in the game you refrain from starting a fight, you know that you'll be torn into smithereens.

I hope they get women NPC's into the game this time.

I played stalker shadow of chernobyl and left it when around 2 hours through the game it got ultra scary

the game really puts some fear in you :P ... I reached this part where we are in some underground long tunnel or water pipe .. and at the end of the tunnel there is this monster thingy sending waves of radiation or whatever it is at you .. a few mins after that part i couldn't bear it anymore :P
