Boy oh boy! I'm so loving this game.

Installed it yesterday evening after a short nap and been playing ever since. Skipped the dinner. Did not know until it was 11 PM. :ashamed:
The first half an hour or so is pretty boring. You go about investigating the crash of 5 stingray choppers and then it gradually picks up pace with the side missions. The Zone is filled with bandits and factions - good and bad. There are ample side missions in the game. Once completed successfully, they reward you with ample moolah to buy better suits and guns. As for guns, you can as well decide to kill some elite mercenaries and loot it off them.hyeah:
Bunked the office today afternoon and was playing from 3 PM until now. I think I'll take an off tomorrow.
The game is the best in Stalker series ever. Thumbs up to this one. :thumb:

Yes you can. But it would be wiser if you played the previous two STALKER versions. Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky. Some of the main characters of both these game make an appearance in Call of Pripyat and the story comes to meaningful end (well almost). Plus you would get to know 'The Zone' better. And not to forget you will realize how the game has evolved from an unoptimized POS to a better experience all round in Call of Pripyat. There are some genuinely creepy moments in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. Stuff like hunting a particular 'animal' at night.
I would suggest playing the game at your leisure between games. Roam around,shoot stuff,find artifacts and quit after a while.Dont take any side quests and just move with the storyline if you are getting bored.
It's not an actual FPS,more of an experience the 'Zone'.

Damn there are some real creepy zombies in this game. Almost had a tough time through the tunnel to get to Pripyat. :fear:
LOL I shot Skull, one of the elite mercenaries while he was guarding the Scientists' bunker (and his team mates as well!) and got myself an awesome assault rifle worth 20k+ RU from him. Upgraded it with all tier II upgrades and happily carrying it along.
Have reached Pripyat safely and have assembled the team. Now to get those Monolith mercenaries. IINW they have what could be the Guass rifle. In the Shadows of Chernobyl, I happened to get this rifle towards the last mission and boy, it fired a slug and almost pierced through the enemy's armor - one shot one kill! :O Reminded me of the rail gun in Q3A.
Rest and the game completion - tomorrow. Me thinks.

Yup. I went to Pripyat with a fully modified SEVA and F2000 with Target Acquisition System Scope and the good ol Eliminator. Fully modified Abakan is great as well since the ammo's plenty.

ATM, I have upgraded to the military suit + helmet. The GP37 assault rifle is upgraded to tier II and all set.
Can't wait to get home and play. Cannot bunk the office today.

And yeah as for Stalker games, you need more than just patience. The game is too slow and boring in the beginning - no good weapons, low on ammo, most NPCs are hostile towards us etc. And gradually it starts picking up - that is when it starts to make sense and the gameplay becomes interesting.
