The game is beyond repair. I doubt a single patchup is enough to get rid of the problems. But, let me install the game again.

Saints Row 2 is a pretty good PC port. I have already finished about 10 days back and there were no stability issues. Played at 1680 x 1050, Most Quality settings maxed and 2x AA. Its one of the better open world games and the keyboard/mouse controls were pretty good.

Does that patch improve the game soo much, I heard pretty horrid things about framerates, when it came out

I was specifically talking about the stability rather than performance. Most of the recent Console to PC ports have been pretty bad in stability with crashes and all. However I have completed entire Saints Row 2 game without a single crash. As for performance, there are indeed issues with FPS being capped to 30 and FPS drops. However it still ran decently well even on a single 4850 (It did not make much use of CF anyways). Its a pretty good port if I compare it to what I have been hearing about the GTA 4 PC version.

Note: I did not install the patch released for this game.

The patch does jack to improve the performance. It says to have removed the 30 frames cap, but even with the patch applied, the maximum FPS I could retain is 34. What a waste?

The good thing about the slow downs is that it only occurs while driving a vehicle at high speed. It becomes very jittery & sometimes renders the races useless. Apart from that, I have completed it without much issues.

Well i got it solved.. but the game sux :S.. driving and shit SUX.. the game goes off my list Shift+Delete.. god knows wht shit is in taht 11gb game :S

yes.....the game is good. But are you telling me that its a good port? Mate, wake up!
