what about saint row first version, will it come out for PC too ?

Doesn't look like it will...especially when the sequel is barely 2 months away from release...

the game is released a few days back and reviews are floating all over the net, this game is another poor coded console port.

GamingHeaven.net says

you begin to wonder why a machine with almost four times the power of the aging 360 console struggles to keep framerates high. Only those with a ludicrously expensive PC need apply.

Another great game on consoles ruined on pc due to lazy porting

another quote from gaming heaven reads

Clearly developers recently feel we should all be running Skulltrail with 3 280 GTXs in SLI to get acceptable performance from our console ports!

IGN rated

Xbox 360 version - 8.2

PC version -6.3

Gamespot rated

console version - 8

Pc version - yet to review,User score reads 6.7 from 188 votes

Gamespy - 3/5

Gaming Heaven - 6/10

another great game ruined :(

Finally a warning :P
Pc owners beware, poor coding has made this fun console game virtually unplayable.

Well the graphics are totally washed out. Driving at high speeds leads to a lot of unstable frame rates. Cars handle like a pile of junk. The missions are fun though. Storyline isn't so great but average to say the least. I still don't understand why on god's green earth would developers still want to implement a 30fps cap on a game? :@

With all the fancy graphic settings within the game, it manages to look worse than GTA: SA. My advice play GTA IV instead for prolonged sessions if you want to but this is a virtual disaster.

It's because of s*** like this that i decided to buy a PS3 instead of upgrading my PC...

i guess this can be the reason behind this lazy ass ports..promoting consoles or just their porting teams just sux

wow, this is just sad, PC gamers being treated as stepchildren of the gaming industry, even though we invest more in a single gfx card than what the whole fking 360/ps3 costs, this is jst not acceptable..

this is almost depressingly sad. this game is a ***tload of fun.... wwwaaayyyyyyy more fun than gta 4. i hope a patch will come soon.

I've been playing this game for awhile and its been really rreeeeaalllllyyy good. It's just too much fun to play. GTA can't even compare.

I hope this helps, but I'm playing the game almost perfectly fine @ 800x600 with everything on max (4x AA and 16x AF) and it's been a blast so far. When lots of stuff happens my fps takes a hit though and i dont think anything can be done about that.

Heres my current config :

core 2 duo e8400 @ 3.5

4 gb g-skill @ 880

9800gtx 512 mb

windows vista 64

It also made the game alot more playable for me to set the priority of my game to "realtime." this way i noticed there was less stuttering and my game was working almost perfect.

hope you guys can give this one a try ! pull a farcry 2 on this one, its really worth it.

well that depends upon what you like more. like here -

watch that trailer.

if you're having problems playing the game because of the awfully bad port, put your graphics to the lowest possible settings and try the game. the gameplay is much much better than you think (atleast i hope, because you'll be missing out on alot). and i too thought the cars handled like crap, but at the speeds at which you can drive i wouldn't have it any other way.

the best thing about the game i'm liking right now is putting tattoos on my character, searching for the finest car in the city and modifying it (+ hooking it up with nitro, which is unlimited btw) and playing mayhem sessions (with unlimited ammo including rocket launchers, detonators etc) or even trailblazing. gta IV might have a better story and overall gameplay mechanics and physics but when it comes down to fun...

saints row 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> gta 4

The tattoos and custom made cars was even there in GTA San Andreas ..... so were many other unwanted minor thingies ...... haircut saloon, clothing shops, eating, gyming etc... but Rockstar decided that those things just didnt matter in the end when u played the game.

And for mayhem and trailblazing, you could just play MP in GTA provided you have a good connection and found a good filled server.

But both the games are a bad port :@ just that Saints Row went a step ahead.... didnt add any new features unlike GTA and still ported the game bad.

Sad days ahead for the PC :(

A new patch for the PC version of Saints Row 2 has been released by developer Volition, fixing crash bugs and replacing the original 32 FPS cap with a variable FPS cap.

As the game itself requires Valve's digital distribution platform Steam, the patch is delivered as an automatically update that's downloaded upon restarting Steam.

* General performance increase around 20%. Note that this will vary depending on the both computer specifications and game settings
* 3rd Party controller scrolling issue has been fixed
* Corrected various crashes reported across all versions
* Corrected a crash in "Drive-By" Diversion for Danish version
* Corrected a crash in "Streaking" Diversion for Spanish version
* Removed original frame cap of 32 FPS
* New variable frame cap has been implemented. This will smooth out spikes in overall framerate
* Players may notice a small hitch when crossing into new chunks in the world. The amount of time for this has been reduced for recommended spec machines, but may still be noticeable, particularly while driving at high speeds
