after 2 hours of searching at Nehru place found this one ...... was available only in single shop ..... every place had 300GB 7200.8

Got a very good deal 4950 without any bargaining ...... i was so exhausted if guy had asked 5500 i wud have paid .... lol







EDIT: is making large partitions(ie more than 200GB) can create problem
 
Congrats! Make sure you remove the jumper that locks you to SATA1 speeds. You'll get a slight performance boost. Too bad its a thai drive :P.
 
Thats a very good deal !!!! I got a 320 gigs about 10 days ago for 5.2 k :( :( and that too I could find in a single shop in NP. BTW, from which shop did u get it from ?
 
yeah i removed the jumper ..... is made in thai drives are not good ??

OT: while in SMC i confused at least 5 AM2 customers about C2D ...... the sales person really got annoyed with me ..... lol

err whats the diff between Thai and Singapore one??
one more thing umm the drive i saw 320 gig comes in a white seashell box not in a box as the pic and its singapore made.
does tht means its fake or w.e.??

The singapore drive is quieter than the thai/china drive and ppl say that they are more reliable too.

@Dubudhi: The 320gig 7200.10 is a lot faster than the 7200.9/7200.8 300GB ;).

making large partitions in ntfs will not create any problems rahul.

me 2 got the singapore 1's around 3 weeks back.

achha wanted to ask.. i got the 320's too... the thing is i have the jumpers on still and i have installed everything on my hdd's... now would i need to format my comp to enable proper working of the drive in 3gbps mode? didnt remove only for that one reason :(. pls tell me, so i could use the power of sata 2!! :D

PS - drives are made in singapore :)
 
I am sure removing the jumper to enable SATA 2 operation will make no difference to the data on the hard drive, you will not have to format the drive.

Good thing is u got a 16MB cache drive with the newer AAD firmware....I got a Singapore Drive last Thursday , but it was 8MB. I got it for 4600+VAT.Best Price till now , ha ha :-)

I got one for 5k after wasting 4 hours roaming through the markets like crazy.

Was so happy that I finally found one that I didnt even bother with the thailand/singapore thingy and grabbed the HDD as soon as it was shown to me.

It is a thailand make though :P.
