you do realise that that burst score matters for a lil less that sh1t... I've tested drives with burst speeds approaching 250 MBps...

Its actual read and write score that matter pal :)

Got my hands on one of their 750 gig HDD's, same 10 series perp recording, those drives are fast... Guess the 320 gig follows the same trend.

^^ who said burst rate matters ... lol ....

u show off :P

naaa... was playing with u pal.. anyways peep recording drives are all pretty fast.. Among the smaller ones all the 160 gig platter walla drives from seagate were good (7200.8 onwards). I'm looking out for a 320 GB HDD myself sometime soon.

Still miss that 750 gigger seagate sent us :P

this harddisk is usually 3-4*c hotter than my old pata and sata .... is anyone experiencing the same .....

Almost similar temps as my old seagate 120 pata, though the Hitachi T7K250 is 3-4degrees cooler.

^^ thats strange .... all 3 HDD on same place inside the cabby ??

someone else with the same HDD might wanna share

thanks nikhil

This is inside a really cramped cabby, after running some stress tests :( all the hdds are cramped together, with the hitachi in the middle, and a crappy 80mm fan suspended in front of them.

i have the same hdd bought for 4800 + tax. do u hear any wierd noise anytime? is it really quiet?? i hear it all the time. is it normal??

No wierd sounds on mine...drive is very quite......if u gettings sounds when trying to read/write on the drive, maybe u need to get the drive replace because its not a very good sign.

its very irritating. there is lot of noise when u read write stuff.
but in speed test etc its same as what rahul have posted.

shud i get a replacement???

Yes its a brand new drive. just bought it on thursday. ill ask the dealer whats the procedure to get it replaced. does it take long??

 NO mine do NOT !! NOT the 320GB nor the 250GB or the 160GB :)

I bought the Hitachi 320GB T7K500 SATA II HDD ... this is an equalent to the Seagate 7200.10 (but without the perp recording) and it is absolutely silent ....and .... I have not even switched the HDD to silent mode !! Maybe the noise depends a lot on the computer case in which the HDD is run.

Dude the Hitachi T7k250 runs cooler and makes much less noise that the Seagate 320GB 7200.10 (I got both) , though the seagate is around 8-10 mbps faster than the hitachi :)

67.5MB/s as against 64MB/s in the case of the 320GBs ... but then who is counting... :D

I keep reading posts in forums about people preferring Hitachi's over Seagates because of better firmware on the Hitachi HDDs.... can anyone explain this ? What difference would a better firmware make to a HDD - in what way would it be better ?
