Hello Guys!

Dad is looking to book Tyota Etios tomorrow, his budget is around ~8L, and he is looking for a sedan with:
1. Good looks,
2. Low maintenace costs
3. Good Mileage ( ~40-50 Kms/day)

What do you think? Any other good options to consider around this range? Not looking to buy Swift, as its very very common.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks :)

Looks good, but I heard maintenance costs are high..is it? And it coming around ~9 on road, is it? ( Active TDI 1.6 )

How about a Nissan Sunny?? , it seems to be a decent caaaaaar.

Nissan A.S.S in Bangalore is sad ,not sure in Kolkotta.

Etios has very cheap interiors. Skoda is exactly opposite, with rich german fit n finish.
While etios gives the cheapest maintenence advantage, skoda's parts are quite expensive.

Sunny: A good family car, but lesser mileage n below average a.s.s.

Swift dZire: A reliable personal car with cramped rear seats. But excellent a.s.s. and peace of mind. This is the one i would recommend.

Other considerations:
Verna: Excellent car but above the budget.
Vento: feels like an overpriced skoda.
Tata Manza: Very unreliable n shoddy in my opinion. Looks cheap too.
i20: A really good car! Forgot to mention it before. Good on mileage, reliability, looks and the budget!

I've a Laura trust me when I say, you'll regret buying skoda if service costs are something you can't bear...it's never going to be cheaper than 4.5~5k.

I20 OS not a sedan though an excellent car, of you won't be upgrading soon, Verna is worth every penny.
You can look for some Chevrolet alternative too.

etios and rapid are 2 different kettle of fish.etios is more like a work horse which will continue to cater your needs with minimum fuss.it will also be a bit easier on the pocket and the on road price will be around 8 to 9for the vd version with ABS and airbags with a decent amount of added features.
Rapid on the other hand will be close to 10 if you take the one with Abs and airbags. It will also incur higher maintenance costs in the long run.It will also be a 100 times more pleasurable to drive than the etios.

Should I increase budget and look for Verna?
Dad is not looking for costly after sales, so I guess Skoda is out of picture....

Nissan Sunny looks good actually, anyone has any idea of a.s.s in Delhi? what is the city mileage like ?

Heard bad things about Ford classic and its maintenance etc.

Ertiga looks a little too much actually, don't need that big a car..

so confused... :(

for size, do not go by looks, check the width length height as per the specs to know real size :)

Do check the new Mahindra Verito. The looks and interiors have been completely changed. Very reliable and good engine with a massive boot and excellent space and ride quality. Superb fuel economy as well.

Hi,

Friend

I have a suggestion for you in your mentioned budget Tata Manza is the best option for you car looks gorgeous Tata Motor's improved the features of car and Now Tata Manza is a complete package of huge space, fuel efficiency, defensive controls, comfortable seating in a very affordable price.

Friends dont let their friends buy tata cars :P
PS: spoken as a long suffering tata owner. There ARE certain circumstances even I would recommend a tata car, but this is not one of them

Looks descent , but I heard they are coming out as taxis as well, is it? or the model has changed since then ?
What is the avg. number of occupants, and what is the type of usage (city/highway)?
Average 1-2 , max 4, mostly city driving
