I am shifting to Bangalore on 29th.

Will be living near WhiteField Road.

1. Whats the best place in Bangalore for purchasing computer hardware?

2. Any good movie multiplexes?

3. Whats the Best internet service provider/plan in Blore?

4. Any good things/places/entities in Bangalore I should experience rightaway?

For the guys who know Hyd and Bangalore well..

How would you compare the two cities?

In my short stay in Bangalore few years back I found that food was definitely cheaper... Comp hardware seems to be cheaper too.

if im not mistaken, the railtel rollout has happened in whitefield and ppl have only been praising it.

sp road for your hardware

1. Whats the best place in Bangalore for purchasing computer hardware?
... SP Road
2. Any good movie multiplexes?
... Forum (Koramangala), Garuda Mall, Fun Cinemas(Cunningham Road), innovative Mulitplex(Marathalli, very near to Whitefield) <-- these 4 are the only multiplexes here:@
3. Whats the Best internet service provider/plan in Blore?
... Airtel is good, railwire might be nice if you are in the area covered, even all of whitefield is not covered yet.
4. Any good things/places/entities in Bangalore I should experience rightaway?
... ummm TRAFFIC :P

Food is cheaper.

Rents are higher.

Traffic is better (Compared to Hyderabad)

Roads are worse(r?) - Compared to Hyd

Chix are hotter - Compared to Hyd

Welcome to bangalore :)

1. SP Road

2. PVR @ Forum, Inox @ Garuda, Lido. Innovative Multiplex is closest...but go there only if very desperate.

3. Airtel/Railtel

4. get a home with nice balcony. Enjoy the rains. Stay away from roads. Any good places to see....are out of bangalore. Settle down first then I'll point you in right direction.

You're moving here in perfect season...all the best.

I am excited...although, at the moment I dont plan to live in Blore for more than an year...I love Hyd too much... but you never know...

Darth, interesting that you mention Blore traffic is better... I found the same when I was there few years back... But my dad who was there very recently insists Blore traffic is worse...

Didn't know about these.:ohyeah:

Your statement on innovative is accurate. Go there only if desperate. Its horrible.
Good thing is, its always empty on weekdays, so me and flatmates go there to catch movies for cheap, at 120bux at 10pm on weekdays. my office is like 1.25km from there and my house is 2km from there.:)

Depends on what time you go out. You'll enjoy traffic when you want to get into bangalore via marathalli bridge :ohyeah:

I leave for office after 11 and come back home after 7-8. Skipping prime time traffic always.

PVR: Classic

Weekdays: 70(morning) - 130 (evening...not sure though)

Weekends 200+ (230 i think)

Inox is also in same range. Head to fun cinemas if you dont get tickets in these. Always book before friday evening if you wanna watch movies during weekends.

Holy shit! 230bucks???

Damn....thats f00k1ng high...:@

what about 250 for a second row from the screen seat?

thats how much mumbaikars have to pay for a sunday evening screening of sarkar raj at pvr juhu :@

Everything in B'lore is getting freaking expensive now. Seriously expensive.

Movie tickets are 200 above at PVR during weekends. Any movie. On sundays, for some movies, they charge 300. And I am not talking about gold class here.

SP Road is the place to buy hardware.

Bangalore's weather is the only good thing about it right now if you are a normal bloke. If you have bucketloads of money, Bangalore rocks. Amazing restaurants, pubs, bars, lounge bars, hang out places, etc...

Traffic is pathetic. IF you have a car, all the best!! If you have a bike, you can avoid most of the pain. Public transport in B'lore is pretty decent. Buses are very frequent and you can get connections to anywhere from anywhere.

Autos are decent because they generally run by the meter(unless you are trying to catch an auto from the railway station. In that case, you end up paying 20-30 bucks more than the meter).

That outer ring road (near whitefield) on which Innovative multiplex is situated is a crime hub. Try not to be on that stretch after 10 or so. Lots of muggings happen on that road especially to techies.

lol I paid 200rs to watch a tamil movie in Inox(garuda mall in Bglr) on a sunday... You'll spend a lot if you want to take a group(4-5 peeps) ;)

you mean 2x or 3x the meter :P

If you're carrying your company ID, laptop or even a bag(like most techies do) get ready to pay 10 - 40 bucks extra. depending on where you are going. 2x is the nights.

I was coming to office once, auto dude asked 70 bucks. I insisted on meter, ended up paying 84 by it :S

@nuke: Not really... bangalore autos are okay. Maybe not as good as bombay but definitely better than chennai and also hyderabad.

I don't agree to nikhil saying its easier on a bike than in a car. Atleast in a car you can sit inside in the comfort of airconditioning, listening to your favorite song while in a bike if you are stuck, the only company you have are the polluting, noisy autos :P.

Anyway coming to the point... bangalore traffic is worse than hyderabad no doubt. Also the traffic density is a lot higher and people drive very recklessly.

Everything is significantly more expensive. When I was a student in hyderabad earning a 9 grand stipend I could easily roam around every weekend without bothering about expenses. Here in bangalore even though I earn much more than ten times that amount, it still pinches everytime I see the restaurant bill.
