If you play a lot of games with a 27inch dell with 2 580's that will be like image quality nirvana man, stuff will look super sweet on that. With a 990 yes more cpu horsepower but where are you going to use it to appreciate your investment.

Gaming on a new screen with enough GPU power to turn the details to max would be awesome imo.
ya & hd will look crap on 1440p/1600p

I would rather go with a big ips panel than 3D. 3D tech is still developing a lot it hasnt matured so I wouldnt jump into that boat just yet.

I'm not saying go 3d either

but a 1440p/1600p lcd is dumb if he watches movies too

if he watches movies on his 40" led only then ya he should buy a Dell 27" 1440p

Dunno what his setup is like if the screens are side by side I dont think it will be an issue, he can just watch the movies on the 40 and sit back, I am recommending the 27/30 inch dell only as a gaming option with another 580.

well yes ... if you have the money and want the best then go for it .. or wait a little for 990x .. though it wont be that different

Depends. Many people have the money if something would really help the performance. If you pay 50% extra, then you should get at least 20-30% extra performance for that much. Else you are just waisting your money.

Most of the people above 35 and some below that can afford to have the kind of setup you are talking about, but nobody does it because it only means spending more without any noticeable performance gain in return.

Even if you go from 70 FPS to 140 FPS, the difference in performance is worth hardly anything because you won't really be able to feel it.

IMO you should only upgrade if you are getting below 50FPS in any game and the upgrade will give you at least a 30-40% increase in performance, that too only for a reasonable amount of money. Going from 45 to 60 FPS after spending 1 lac isn't worth it, but after spending 15k it is worth it.

It really depends, IMO if you have enough to waste, as in if you can afford to go to a five star each week, have a lac or two worth's music setup, enjoy Gold class movies, enjoy yearly Europe tours etc and still have crores left, throw away the 50 grands on the CPU (although you won't notice any difference of course), but if you aren't from super rich, you are just wasting your money which may serve you better if you ever need it in the future.
