ign ratings are nothing but crap really.game spot in comparison atleast gets things more right than wrong.

i am not a fan of horror survival games, but since i do not have anything in my plate right now,i will be starting this game from today.hopefully it isn't a letdown.

The reviews at Gamespot is done by 2 people simultaneously so the views match and apart from that senior editor at gamespot plays that game and verify the review whereas in IGN some dude comes up with review with most of the time playing on easy difficulty just to rush through the game there biggest dumb ass reviews has been rhythm & transformers games which by default earns 9

I favour IGN.Its not what you guys have mentioned.Likes and dislikes differ.Generally i have found whatever games i did not liked ign did gave a correct score for them. One or two cases may be exceptional but not all.

If you see a review must be a general consensus of the game rather a individual review

Good graphics, better combat, no lag or screen tearing etc. could have made the game look even better but still I go with what gamespot gave the score to silent hill downpour. I don't understand what is the problem with ign they have gone mad they gave silent hill and I am alive both 4.5/10

Played the initial bits and all those hallucination chase sequences were pretty good. Right now I've paused where Murphy boards the tram and reaches the town. Some of the sequences also remind me of Alan Wake. I did get those occasional screen tearing and micro-second pauses for a while but it went away after a while. The game isn't all that scary anyway.

Will resume the playthrough once I am done with Binary Domain.

Just completed the game and I got to view 2 of the endings. Clocked close to 11 hours and not every side quest was completed. Let me start by saying that my initial 20-30% of the game was really rough. I was hoping for better graphics, but all I got was a pile of mud. Technical issues just kept on plaguing it; visual tearing, unbearable stuttering, texture pop-in, loading times etc. ruined my initial experience. Then I had problems with the gameplay; clunky character movement (with the stutter), arsed combat, borked save system, understanding what the f*ck was going on and what I was supposed to do (read: objectives). I was this close to removing it off my HDD and applauding IGN for it's blunt review.

BUT, as with every other game, it's very difficult for me to leave a game mid-way and boy did I do the right thing. I dedicated most of my Sunday to this game and then things suddenly began to change. Clunky character movement and awkward combat was embraced, technical issues subsided, smoke cleared and the story and game began to make sense. I'm talking after you reach the 'Centennial Building'. From here, the game just keep surprising you in terms of the scare factor. Trust me, those with 5.1 surround systems, mark my words; "Thou shall shit your pants". The sound effects are absolutely amazing. It's probably the only thing, which really invokes that fear in you. Once you reach St. Maria's Monastery, be prepared for the best (and the scariest) parts of the game.

The story unravels over time and you won't know EVERYTHING till the very end. The "other world" concept was OK, nothing new (been there, done that). The game could have had better provision for allocating side quests and assisting with the main quests path. I would be stuck for hours circling the same path, only to realize I missed climbing a ladder. Puzzles are pretty good. Voice acting is average. Daniel Licht's music is really good.

There is no denying that Vatra games need to fix the technical issues with this game. Apart from that, this is worth a try for Silent Hill and Survival Horror genre fans alike.

I'm really annoyed with the save system used here even after saving it auto loads a previous save and its scary especially with headphones on I had reached the 1st different dimension stage and I keep running and die not sure where exactly I need to go to get out

Dinesh, where exactly are you ATM in your playthrough? Has Murphy changed his clothes yet? Did you manage to find the ticket to board the tram?

DInjo now read ign's review again.I think you will get your answers.Anyways i am not biased to anyone.

^ Ok Have you even played this game ?

I'm saying this because you are just reading some random article on internet[yes IGN has become random article now] and posting views , don't get me wrong the game has issues but i spend some time i liked the otherworld concept and game is good though not very good but ok to play , just to give you a example do you think WWE 12 deserves a 9.0 ? I understand you might not like a game and your views could match the reviewers but a reviewer review should be based on how the game is in terms of following :-
  • Current Gen Games
  • Innovation/Creativity
  • Replay Value
  • If its a sequel how much its being improved and most importantly
  • Review must be based on unbiased terms i.e a non-RPG player would never give a RPG a high rank , and a shooter fan would always rate a COD much higher than others i.e fan boyism

^^You tell me how can i when its not available in india yet.

Anyways it has nothing to do with playing as i have many experiences from the previous games that i have played.(already mentioned in the previous post)

Dinjo you are right.i am not arguing with you.Yeah agreed ign has become random article now.But what I tried to tell you is that whatever the reviewer writes it will never be completely accepted by the mass.there will always be people opposing it yeah ratio may vary but opposition will be there.
