News Siri-Like Voice Search Coming To Google Search App For iOS devices

Google will be taking on Siri with its new Google search app for iOS devices , which will feature Siri like voice-driven search .

The new improved Google Search app is currently in development and tested for iOS 4.2+ . While Siri is available only for iPhone 4S and third generation iPad , Google's Search app with voice will be available to more iOS devices .

Google said in a blog post that the new voice search will also give spoken response when it can supply a direct answer . It will also behave like Siri when asked about movies in theaters, displaying a list of the latest flicks in cinemas near you.

I am surprised that Apple is allowing this. They usually don't like 3rd party apps to mimic the native iOS functionality and don't allow such apps. Good that i can get this on my wife's iPhone 4 (hopefully).
