I need help from crossfire or sli users. Does running sli or cf 8x + 8x vs 16x + 16x make huge difference ?? or its one & the same as of now... what percentage of gain i will have if the mobo has full 16x support against 8x+8x support >????
thanks:cool2:

Depends on gpu used?? how bout cards costing 10k?? ati ones 5770*2 something like that !! am not able to find sufficient volume of benchmarks or value addition data on net so i require hep from real time users..

x8 x8 will give you a loss of 10-12% FPS vs. x16 x16.

Though Xfire HD5770 will give you so much FPS at HD resolutions, you will hardly notice the difference on x8 x8 or x16 x16.

Note:

Please do not ask for any proof or links, this is just experience and knowledge -- reading up forums/threads on Xfire.

EDIT:

You can read these two articles. But remember they are on old cards. Will give you a rough idea. Though most of the stuff I read, 10-12% FPS was the range

Article 1

Article 2

yeah i have read an artile that unless its a super duper fast card it wont give huge advantage . But keeping future in mind itz better to go with 16x full support or stick to 8x + 8x. If lcd support is just 19' or 20' wont notice much but 24" you can notice .. Are these comments true ?? So many websites suns cpu mobo test & blah blah but no sli or cF 8x vs 16x bench marks :( sad....

On a 19" or 20", Xfire multi GPU will not make much difference. It really shines when you go greater than or equal to 1920 x 1080. Else one card sits there, doing jack squat.

It is better you narrow down to the accelerators you will get. I am sure, there are umpteen reviews out there, for multi GPU. P55 gives x8 x8 as default, and X58 gives x16 x16.

i also had same doubt...had read somewhere...its hardly 5-6 fps diff..Also the difference comes into picture when you use dual gpu cards like 4870x2 or GTX 295 in 8x SLI...For rest like 4870..GTX 260/275 types it doesnt matter much.Hardly a difference.

Will a sli or Cf make difference at all ?? or just run single card a big beast like gtx 295 or ati 5XXX big monsters on 16x slot??
Will dual gpu help in gaming ?? or just 3d appilication will be benifitted??

at 8x, anything above a 5850 (5850 included) will show a significant drop in fps as compared to full 16x CFire.

as asingh correctly pointed out, there will be no difference in gameplay if you have a crossfire setup and you play at 1680x1050. You will really see the fruit only at high res.

Two questions:

1. SLI vs CF: That is like asking nVidia vs ATI. You know the answer to that.
2. Dual GPU or Single GPU: Yes dual GPUs give a boost in gaming. But I all ready explained the constraints in the above posts.

1.ok this it it, 2 gpu is better than one

2.Unless the gpu is duper duper fast 8x or 16x doesn't matter

3. For mid range gpus 8x will be perfect

4.Itz always better to have 16x support which sounds future proof...

5 For time being 8x will give you performance that we ask for cuss most of us wont be using 3 monitors nor gpu of 35k + 35k :P

This is what i came to know after reading tonnes of articles Anyone want to make value addition ?? please do i will be looking forward..
