A very good move, let's see how succesfully they can drive it.
It doesn't make any sense that you smoke and others(passive) gets cancer

going by this reason, why isn't drinking banned :P
Because that make one passive drinker unless anyone is intresed.

coz drinking wnt affect neighbours.....while its more dangerous in case of smokin...its said the passive smoking is worse than active:bleh:

This law is going to result in million of people suffering from serious withdrawal symptoms and this may increase the crime rate in the country.

Somking affects the health of people around smokers. If you want to smoke, do it in your home not around people who do not wish to be affected by effects smoking.
You mean me or the government. If its the government I agree.
The government. If you actually think or know its bad, then just bloody ban it completely. This is just political cuntishness at its best.

That jerkoff is happy with his 5 minutes in the limelight. Objectivity is too difficult for politicians to comprehend.

Heh, it earns them taxes. If the government was concerned about people's health they could have started with paan masala, chewing tabacco etc etc.

People will always find a way to create that slightly altered state of mind. You can ban tobacco/marijuna/coke/acid whatever you want even alcohol, and somebody will come up with an alternative. No sniffing cat pee, is NOT one.

pan is even worse. atleast smoke goes into the air, those red spit stains dont leave the place for ages. :@

That's just it. If it is indeed harmful to people, just ban the whole thing. If people chewing tobacco are killing themselves, but not harming others, doesn't it relate to suicide(extreme, I know) just like passive smoking is tantamount to murder?

Perfect example of impractical laws.

Good News .... its very irritating for me when someone blows smokes on my face/near me in public places.

Cigs ads were banned long ago. And may be the reason government isn't banning the manufacturing of cigs is because it will bring loss to the country. many companies export the cigs. Also many people might lose their job. Could be many other reasons. Not to forget the public also won't be happy if they won't get cigs at retail.

But this is a welcome move indeed. :D

Even though I'm a smoker, I understand that smoking in public places is not good personal etiquette. You have no right to spoil health of your fellow non-smoking crowd.

BUT... serisouly. Ban in pubs? Hotels, where there is dedicated area for smokers? Office (in last two offices I had worked, both had smoking zone only for smokers)?

Government has all rights to care for health of public but this is too much. If they are so damn fu**in serious, then ban Tobacco manufacturing altogether, cut the roots than branches. This is all double-talk bullcrap, they want all the damn revenue they get from Tobacco products, and then don't want people to consume it?

:@

Bad move... atleast in pubs they shud hav allowed it and some small petty shops .. I don care a damn at ma place... they say they are gonna put 200 rs on firsst fine and late if u get caught again then its 1k .. hwo are they gonna find out the we were caught earlier... total bull shit... first of al dry day on oct 2:rofl: and now no smoking ,.. WTF..:@
