One can still smoke in the smoking zone in the offices and pubs. But this indeed is a sad move. This is a free country, right ? I understand if me smoking around Non-somkers cause them harm but what about when I am alone and there is no one around my 50 ft radius ? I am not gonna affect anybody then, am I ? :S

Is smoking banned in cars too ?? Now that would be really sad if it is.

Although this is being implemented from tomorrow , I saw many policemen stopping Auto richshaws and fining the passengers for smoking in the auto today. The Mamus just got another excuse to make money now. How pathetic is that ?

Good move! But I really doubt if they can implement it. How will they monitor all the public places?

didn't have the patience to read through the entire thread.

I smoke and I welcome this decision.

Has this ever happened to you..

Going to a nice reputed restaurant for a family dinner, you wait for about 20 mins to get a table and when you finally get inside the entire place if full of smoke. You try to adjust but kids start howling and entire evening is f**in ruined.

It has happened to me.

Banning smoking in public places is very good decision.

I am very particular about my environment when I'm smoking, I don't smoke at the discomfort of others. Obviously there no one is checking everytime but one should be carefully him/herself.

same is advised to all smokers

Excellent move. Request all members to be nice to these smokers coz they are not gonna last long.....

^ So you think that the whole world smokes just because you do. Smoking in public places affects non smokers also and you think it should not be banned. A non smoker visits all the places you mentioned above. If you have a death wish its fine by me but dont take me down with you.

I think its an excellent decision.

+1 I totally agree.

going by this reason, why isn't drinking banned :P

Cause if one is drunk, that guy is drunk the other is not affected directly. In case of smoking is.

Its little too bit much. they should define public/private places properly.

My office campus has well designated smoking zones. People can choose to come there or not. Even though I don't smoke, i go there coz I hang out with smoking friends.

Now everyone has to walk outside of the campus for a smoke :S
