I have all my Music , Videos , Ebooks PDF , Word Docs , Excel Sheets , Text Docs all indexed
so i dont have to hunt for them in directories.

A panes based manager can scale up 100x more than a hierarchical file manager. Once you start using tags it becomes more useful as you can categorise whatever, however. That's its forte, a lot of others are very limited in this aspect.

I'm still trying to figure out what attracts ppl to this type of app, many either absolutely love it or don't care at all, seems there is no middle ground.

+ Panes definitely helps a lot.

+ All My music was already tagged properly but now my documents, pdf, images are also tagged :ohyeah:

+ I donno other software that allows indexing documents and any files.

+ You know i have even indexed shorcuts to launch apps via jriver playlist

and it works gr8.

[You must be thinking i have gone crazy but this one app is my entire data management, entertainment and app launching interface]

+ Try it then only you will understand.

+ Gr8 pic quality.

+ nice interface

+ supports all videos and audio right out of box , no codec install req.

+ Auto resume of video playback where i left.

+ Panes for keeping various videos sorted out.

You got the idea all in what, 2 days :ohyeah:

Tho what you said leads me to think it appeals to those that are compulsive about organising stuff or that you were drowning already with what you have.

There is one point i forgot to mention in comparison to a hierarchical file manager.

You can only organise alphabetically and that necessarily implies you have to encode indexes into the folder or file name. And then its fairly static, want to organise another way have to redo it again.

With panes and your own custom tags, its very fluid and the possibilities are endless.

Cool, thx for the tip, could use a change from the GOM player+MPUI+VLC player i normally play with.

+ Like to organize my stuff so that i dont get lost in the TeraByte Maze , is something wrong with that.

[Any person with more than 1TB storage would organize his data]

[who likes to hunt single PDF or a Word Doc on various partitions and sub directories]

+ Using Tags to categorize the docs [genre]

I used GOM Player prior to KM Player.

Tried KM Player once was so impressed by what it had to offer never looked back at any other video playback software.

SMPlayer & MPF is a better GUI for Mplayer

VLC is used for one click playback mostly give this to my friends those who like one click , no codec install playback.

Also VLC has a very powerful video streaming feature which no other player offers.

Though i have Media Player Classic : set to run when double click and video is run.

Nothing wrong but it explains the drowning bit, in which case you will be hooked for life :)

Should also come in handy when you have to deal with photos, Aperture on the Mac is similar but only does photos.

Is that just a web interface , i mean i have Wifi N/W at home and have opera on my P990i and HTC Diamond.

well after trying it for 2 days , im liking songbird , apart from the fact that it hogs too much memory(~135mb) , the mediaflow , auto lyrics fetch and having a full fledged integrated browser make it worthwhile

When I tried Songbird first, about 8-9months back (version 0.9 or something), it did not manage Video Files for iPod, hence I had to uninstall it after a day's use...
