I'm using a bunch of Sonoff Basics for automated outdoor lighting. They're wired in series with the wall switch for manual control.
Tasmota is configured to turn on by default when power is supplied/restored. I'm not using timers on Tasmota.
The automatic control is through Node-RED which turns off the lights 15 mins before sunrise and turns them on 15 mins before sunset.
They're also configured to turn on and stay on for 15mins after a power outage during the day or if someone turns off the wall switch and turns it back on during the day — that's for if we need lights on during the day for any reason.
Node-RED control is through a wildcard outdoor-lights MQTT subtopic and monitoring of Uptimesec to see how long the light has been on during the day so that it can turned off after 15 mins.
