Sony Alarm Clock ICF-C218

As you know, sumchamp has created an IC for this Alarm Clock. But due to controversies, he closed the thread. But I wanted to buy one for me., so I checked in with Sony India.

They gave me a price of Rs. 1,400/- per piece and if we can manage to get 10 or more orders, the price will be 1,350/-

The product is covered under Sony India Warranty and there's no need to worry. :)

Update: Got reply from the eBay dealer. He is willing to give a maximum of 5% off on the total cost if there are a minimum of ten orders.

MRP of this Product is Rs. 1490 and the price quoted by your dealer is not much of a bargain. Its available in Sony World for that price. Shipping cost will make the product to cost equal to MRP.

Prasanna, Not trying to discourage you. You can try with sony dealers other than sony world for a much better bargain, as sony world always sells the products at MRP with very little or No discount.

Exactly! Esp. the Memory Stick cards & cameras - ridiculous prices when the other dealers offer much lower bargains with official warranty from Sony India. They loot a lot of people this way. :(

Thanks for the comment, and yes you're true. I checked with the Sony web site. But the thing is I did all research before going on to Sony World. I checked with the local vendors here as well as Puducherry but no use. Finally I opt for Sony World and got the price above.

If you're interested, can you check the price with the vendors in Chennai?

In the meanwhile, sumchamp told me that he will check for the price with his local vendor. So, we can expect a better price from him :)
 
^... You will get better pricing from dealers rather than Sony World. (Personal Experiences). Being a company showroom they don't care if they sell a product or not. while dealers will always be interested to sell for their margins.

I went to get a PSP & Sony World was adamant on MRP. they were not reducing even a buck... Went to a dealer & they reduced 400 bucks instantly...
 
yep,sony world are only good for buying batteries or genuine memory sticks,since u get lots of fakes.otherwise they are only good for demo.
did anyone try the grey market route.
 
i knew this wud be ur second GO....i asked the ebay dealer for the final price of 5 pieces and shipping . he charges high shipping (rs 250 ) and belongs to ur city i think . this clock may be even hard to get from sony world....will check mine

Yeah, this is my second GO ;) I forgot about the EP-630's :D

EDIT: @adder: Grey market ones aren't available for this Clock, I guess.

I talked to the guys at Sony Centre (Cochin). They said if taken in bulk they can reduce the price. I couldn't get a quote over the telephone.
If interested I can go over there & get a quote. I can't give any assurance that the quote will be good.

Thanks a lot yaar. Please check it and inform us. It'll be really helpful. In the meanwhile, I'm also talking with the Philips Dealers here for the quote. The sales rep asked me to call by tomorrow evening. So, if I get a lower price, it'll be good! Keeping my fingers crossed ;)
 
@prasanna - Sony Centre is not run by Sony Co. directly. Its through other agencies. So, I think they should give good discounts on bulk purchase. In Karaikal, since the tax is very low I think you should get a better discount.
