LTE data still works and functions as normal if your phone supports LTE but not VoLTE.

The difference is that your connection (including voice/texts/data) will drop to 3G when you make a phone call. This means that you will experience slower speeds and higher latency while a call is active. However, your phone will almost instantaneously switch back to LTE and its higher speeds the moment you hang up.
In my area, only LTE and 2G networks are available for Airtel as 3G has been replaced entirely by LTE. In such cases, it will drop further down to 2G, affecting the call quality itself. Perhaps something to keep in mind since it Airtel, Vi will completely disable 3G at some point.
