@damn

That's cool. Even though there are quite a few JB ROMs out there I am still on ICS. Can't really live without the Sony apps personally. :) Also Free RAM is an issue in CM10. With no apps running on S, there is 200MB Free. With the browser running I think it should easily drop to below 100.

There are a lot of nice mods though that you should try, including Acid Audio, Cybershot Mod with HDR etc.

I've always disliked any mods that require non-stock kernels.
Gonna try the ACID Audio today.

EDIT : Tried ACID Audio engine, love it.

Look at most popular currently. Micromax A110 :hail:

I've gotta say, with all the recent mods that have come out in the XDA developer forums, I'm extremely happy with the way I've customized my Sola. I'm a few steps away from achieving perfection for myself.

Simple Calendar Widget lags on first time (when I scroll into that Home Screen Pane). Any way I can force the phone to keep that app in the main memory? (Similar to making the Launcher Stay in the RAM).

How do you enforce that?

Sony also announced the Xperia ZL which is the most compact 5inch Full HD smartphone. It's smaller than Galaxy S3 in fact.

It lacks water/dust resistance like the Z, but gets an IR blaster so you can use it as a remote for your TV, home theater and other gear. Also it doesn't have a glass back as the Z and uses slightly less premium materials.

Z will be available by March in India, and ZL should come around April.

Say anything you want about SONY, they make the classiest ads and zero mud-slinging.

Presenting you the SONY XPERIA ZL

Just bought an Xperia P. Have been a Samsung user so the IPS display was a revelation. This thing's a beauty and the subtle life-like colors are amazing. And the 8mp snapper is way too good. I didn't need my digicam on my weekend trip and my pics rivaled my other friends' cams. Then it was time to check the graphics power. Installed GTA3 and when I started it, I was left dumbfounded for a few minutes. I took a little while to comprehend that this was the game I used to play on my PC some yrs back. Although the controls are tricky, just seeing this same game run lag-free in my hands while I am lying down was worth it. My only gripe till now is the battery. The idle discharge overnight seems to be on the higher side. I read on XDA about the weather widget being the culprit but I have it disabled. I have reduced brightness, put on extended standby and there's some improvement. Any other things which I should do? What other essential customization should I look to? Thanks.

Manually lock your screen every time you are done using the phone.
Use a black pixeled wallpaper, or a wallpaper that is mostly black.
If you are not a 3G subscriber, remove WCDMA network. (this bumped my battery life by 2 hours)
If your phone has too many apps in history, rebooting is better than swiping those apps.
Use minimal brightness for overnight idling.
Disable mobile Bravia engine for non multimedia usage.

Disable applications like the Weather Widget (it might look cool but saps battery life).

Purchase Better Battery Stats to understand what is sapping your battery. https://play.google.com/store/search?q=better+battery+stats&c=apps

Change the phone Network type to GSM only from WCDMA (preferred) / GSM.

Change phone wallpaper to one with least whites and maximum black coverage. Turn off Wi-Fi (whenever not in use) and swipe away background tasks if you won't use them anytime soon. Do not, repeat do not kill any cached applications, this will trigger the OS to re-cache them again and again and this aggravates battery loss.

Root your phone, this does not void warranty and significantly improves your control and grasp on the phone's settings. Root MANY ANDROID! [Upd: 18.12.2012] - xda-developers

After rooting the phone use Battery Calibrator to fine tune your battery power-cycles further. Root MANY ANDROID! [Upd: 18.12.2012] - xda-developers

Hope this helps and wishing all on this thread a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Cheers!
