Yeah if your boss loves you unconditionally the same way as your parents.
IF your Boss is as selfless as your parents.
If your boss has spent sleepless nights for you when you were sick.
If your Boss cried and felt bad after hitting you, and when you were asleep came to watch over you in the night.
If your Boss saved money, so that he can give you gifts, which you wanted and didn't think even once about spending that money on himself.
If your Boss's intentions was to imbibe some discipline, so that in the future you don't go over and mow down poor people sleeping on the pavements.
IF yes to all these questions, then In all means and ways he is justified in slapping me.
I am happy that my mother gave me a little beating when I was kid. I was a horrible kid. Infact I would have also given a kid like me some beating.
My brother was disciplined, so he didn't get that much beating. But I was plain horrible. Never used to read.
I am pretty sure if it wasn't for the beating, I would have been some roadside illiterate lafanga.
Basically I would say it depends on the kid. Some kids don't need beating and some do need beatings in moderation.
Also I didn't turn out to be an Introvert or didn't have any psychological problems.
But if its drunk father beating a kid to get kicks, then that is plain wrong.

Where did I bring parents into this? Both the news articles are talking about teachers hitting kids. I suppose that's okay with you since they only have the child's best interest at heart.
Why would one extend that logic?
I hope you are not a kid, now that would call for some spanking.
If you would have read my post, I clearly said, there is a difference between a Drunk father bashing up a kid and a responsible parent spanking a kid a little.
And if you are talking about domestic violence between 2 adults, then that is a totally different thing itself. Both are grown ups and can think for themselves.
A kid doesn't know anything. He doesn't have a clue. He is not mature enough.

Just to make my point clear, those teachers were dumb and no one treats a 3 year old kid that way.
That is sure abuse. And strict action should be taken towards the teacher
I myself remember being tortured by my school teacher in Senior Kinder Garden. Abused verbally a lot of times, hit me and I was only 5. She had a troubled marriage and she used to remove her frustration on me.
That left a negative impact on me and I was really scared of teachers.
If fact the damage was till that extent, that If I saw any of my teachers on the road, I used to hide behind cars. This habit of mine continued till my class 3.
I was talking in more general, where this thread is tending towards. Lot of people feel that parents shouldn't spank their children. I feel that is ok. There is mountain of difference between the incident in that news link and our parent's spanking us.

In my childhood I don't remember how many times I have been beaten (that appeared merciless then), but let me assure you it's a count which will be more than many can think of. If anything wrong happened either in the home or in the colony people knew who did it and most of the time they were right.
I came out to be a much better person than I would have become if left with a minor scolding or admonition. I have never had a grudge against my parents or for that matter against my school teachers.
In retrospection I feel, if a child is able to understand how much pain he/she has caused to the parents/teachers by his/her act then he is not going to be emotionally scarred because of punishment or physical beating. However when the beating is ruthless and child is not able to emotionally connect to the person doing the act that's when problem starts.
The saying "spare the rod...." can't be applied in a generic way. It has its pros and applicable in certain situations and definitely has its cons during other situations.

A spanking is usually done along with some explanation. Purpose of spanking is to instil a little fear that may prevent the child from repeating such actions irrespective of the fact whether the child understands the repercussions or not. Explanation is meant for child to think about it and realize. It is meant for long term improvement. Physical beating is for short-term result. All physical beating should not be classified as abuse.
Yes I agree that the news showing the merciless beating of blind children appeared as "abuse".

There's a difference between a kid and an adult. They think differently. Their priorities are different. A kid would want to just run around and play, whereas an adult understands and categorizes his/her priorities. An adult is a sum total of what he/she has experienced over their lifetime. A child lacks such wordly knowledge (which IMO is a good thing).
Nowadays we see a greater trend of movies and shows wherein children behave as adults and seem to understand the adult's thoughts etc. perfectly. Does not happen in real life.

Reminds me of an incident some 5-6 months back. Was in Landmark (closed now
) and there was this kid of about 10-11 years or so throwing a ruckus in the shop for a PS3. Obviously it's a high value item and therefore his parents were wary of it and tried reasoning. When nothing worked, they tried leaving. Lo ! The kid started wailing loudly at the top of his voice, banging the PS3 aisle with this fists. When his parents tried to take him away by force, he purposefully kicked the games aisle (which was next to the console aisle), causing some 8-10 games to fall on the ground. And still his parents were like "No Ayush (I think that was his name), baad main le lenge. Abhi nahin. Aise zidd nahin karte" etc. I mean creating a ****ing tantrum in public and throwing things around and still parents go all sissy on kids ? Have seen similar scenes in McDonalds. That thing is filled with obese kids and their stupid parents.
Seriously ? Comparing apples to oranges now, are we ? And how much about sex can you teach a 5-8 year kid ? Would he be interested in learning about sex ? Even if you tell him all about sex, will he be able to understand it ? How many parents know what to talk about when giving sex ed to their kids ? You see people shying in public from using the word "Penis" or "Vagina", and you expect the same people to make kids understand what is sex ? Top lel sire, top lel.
