Hi,

I need good speakers to be connected to my pc \ PS3.

Will prefer something with Optical in as my mobo and ps3 both has optical out.( not a compulsion )

Budget :- Max to max 20,000not a penny above it.

use Music/ Movies / Gaming ( In exact same order :ohyeah:)

I have a few option

Logitech z 5500 but i m not too sure about this.

Edifier S-550

Can i use Audioengine A5  ( I hv no idea about them do i need a receiver+ Sub with it or they alone are enough)
Thanks In advance

Z5500 is an option but the control pod backlight seems to develop issues after a brief period of usage so it's better to search for other options. None of the Edifier systems have digital inputs afaik. Take a look at the Philips HT 3571 system. Although it comes with a DVD player, it doubles up as an audio receiver and accepts both spdif digital and coaxial inputs. Some users who had reviewed this alongside basic 5.1 + AVR systems rated the philips to be better of the lot. Worth a shot IMO.

Audioengine A5 does not accept digital inputs either. It has an aux. input from an iPod though. For music, the A5 should be better than most of the entry level 5.1 systems.

You have a lotta options like the Roland's, KRK Rokit 6, M-Audio's Bx5 & Bx8 but these are all speakers which are great for music.
If you add an extra subwoofer to it you will be able to enjoy movies and gaming as well but you would have to stretch your budget.

Z5500 r great choice bt i dnt trust the receiver it has got

its like jacking up a z5500 wid an edifier receiver = better sound then tht wid a z5500 receiver

i dnt knw the price but KEF r great

i think Polk 5.1 is also available for 22000

z5500 is great .....if the control pod's backlight fails you can always get them replaced...instantly.....no questions asked ....Mine got replaced in 20 min. an year ago. ( yes the q the whole set gets replaced ...you get a packed z5500.....they repair nothing ...just replace it)

and if there is a problem with it (baclight) occurs in the fisrt few months ...not afterwords ....sq wise they are great for sub 20K speakers ....specially games and movies ...2.1 speakers are fnot for playing games ...tey are for listening to music.

the only problem is ( as with all the speakers) they are bulky you cant take it to another city if you are not traveling with you vehicle.

If you are from delhi i could sell you mine. ...in great condition

if you are going for a HT setup ...id recoment buying a good reciever with two speakers and a sub woofer then later upgrade it....when your budget permits .....that way you get a better AVreciever...futureproof( to some extent)
