Wait 10 seconds or 1 second does it matter?
We won't Die or Lose work if we wait 9-10 seconds extra?
What the hell are TRIM & GC also what is their purpose?

A Fast HDD just reduces installation & loading times of games, apps & os after that's done it's useless isn't it
WD Black is fast enough & 1TB of it costs 5-6k
I guess you're thinking just in terms of gaming performance in which case it doesn't matter as almost everything is first loaded into the RAM anyway.Udit said:I don't think SSD's give enough performance gain to warrant giving 12.5k for a puny 80GB of space or do they?

IMO SSDs are quite worth it if you can shell out that kind of moolah to buy a drive.
I for one would wait for some time for SSDs to become mainstream OS drives. Maybe in a year's time or a little less. I'd wait for WD to launch one rather.
Besides, space doesn't matter when it comes to SSDs since you might store the OS and perhaps the game installations and the likes on the SSD. So price per GB doesn't matter much if you ask.

Also you're thinking about the price per performance factor in terms of SSDs purely as a storage solution. Imo, considering their current pricing, SSDs aren't feasible as a good storage solution.
Just install your OS and games on it, and say Hello to 5 second cold boots and Goodbye to texture streaming in poorly coded games.

I am definitely going to put SSDs on any new machines I build for myself or friends/relatives... and I will try to convince my office admins to buy the next laptop with an SSD because I am looking forward to its performance there...

@stalker, Thanks & your post made sense
how are:
Newegg.com - Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BN/128GB 2.5" 128GB SATA II Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD
Newegg.com - Corsair Nova Series CSSD-V128GB2-BRKT 2.5" 128GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - SSD
how are these?
both support TRIM
do they support GC?
TechHead said:The Kingston is a Toshiba-controller based drive. Not too fast.Does not have TRIM.
The Corsair is based off the Indilinx Barefoot controller IIRC.. not too fast again. Supports TRIM. I would recommend the Intel 160GB G2.. best all round drive right now.

Wait for the G3s tobe released. There WILL be a big drop in prices.
