Sorry to spoil your thread... But FYI iPhone's warranty is only available with the respective operator from which it is bought... you cannot claim warranty in India after buying from US/Uk/Aus bla bla... But in case of ipods.... it is exactly the opposite.

Source: Read Somewhere. Interested people can google it as well...

Cmon guys can we cut the crap out. Guys who want to know about warranty. Pls google on ur own. The phones packaging date is 17/12. Considering that it is not officially launched in India, not warranty applies here.

apple phones are sold on a contract basis & you must be thinking that if anything goes wrong, you can send it to europe or usa or aus for replacement if it is still under warranty. well, looks good but just explain me certain things .......

1) once iphone is unlocked & jail broken, even if you restore it, they come to know.

2) if iphone goes kaput while you think its still in warranty, how are you going to restore it before claiming for replacement ?

3) there are strict laws in europe, usa & aus, apple are suing its customers for doing so, do you think you are being protected in any circumstances ?

Unlocking & Jail-Breaking is a crime under DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act)

4) according to sources, i have heard that there are some legal issues between apple & vodafone / Airtel, hence 3GS launch is unlikely in India, maybe late, maybe never, who knows ?

5) even if apple launches in INDIA officially, how are you liable to get your iphone into their warranty status, without showing any proper documents, even if you produce false documents, they come to know by the serial number.

point me if i missed out on anything ????

Dint want to go offtopic, but there is some serious FUD being spread around. Most of the things you said are either factually or technically incorrect.

Though point no. 2 is fairly valid, please let me know (throw some links to back your claim) more about points 1 and 3. Also, am not claiming iPhones to have international warranty(not sure on that), but warranty on Apple products are never through any "documents", its purely through the Serial Number of the product.

Phone sold to a local guy.. he payed cash and picked up the phone after checking.. :P So closing thread !! thank you guys for taking interest..
