I just picked up a Asus Xonar Dx 7.1 a day ago. Very very satisfied with the sound it gives out... Now im facing a problem with .mkv files .. bluray rip's in other words. VLC, Windows Media, KM Player. I generally use vlc for any .mkv movies as im very impressed with the video clarity it provides. Whenever i play any for 2 seconds the sound is clear and then the audio stuttering sound starts off which is very irritating. I tried with all the 3 players but its same. However avi's, dvd's etc.. play fine without any stuttering sound in these 3 players.
The only successful player was the media player classic. It played the mkv files without any sound problem, however mpc is not as good as vlc and top it all the video picture is very dark and they are no options to adjust it. (I Googled a lot for the adjusting)

Ive noticed that ffdshow audio decoder is used in mpc to decode the audio. Hence i tried that with Km player(since it has a option to use external filters) but still the stuttering sound comes. So now im stuck. I liked vlc, it has no option to use external decoder. I wanted to know if anybody else is facing this kind of problem or there is any other recommended player i can use. Im running on Vista OS 64bit.

MPC is the best

Much better than VLC anyday

U just need to adjust the settings in video and you are good to go

VLC has stutters while playing 720p and 1080p but MPC can play it smoothly

Anyway , in video of VLC try using Post processing to 6 from Disabled

Should help a little but stuttering will not go

MPC is the best
