hi friends, atlast narrowed down to 9800GT 512MB DDR3

need ur suggestions for which brand to go? and also plz suggest me a vfm psu for tht card as well

if u know the latest prices of gpu and psu, plz share.

btw, my config:

Intel C2D 2.66ghz
Intel mobo DG33FB
Transcend 1gb 800mhz (may add 2gb)
Seagate 250gb HDD (may add 1tb)
iball generic 400w psu tht comes with cabby
may add Samsung 2233sw

I'll share the prices of the PSU and Graphics Card and RAM and I bought/plan on buying recently:

Graphics Card: GTS 250 - 9k (planning on buying)

PSU: Corsair VX 450W - 4.1k (bought this, very strongly recommended by TE members as it's a great PSU to buy and invest in)

:)

go for Zotac 9800GT ~ 5.9k..it is better then Palit 9800GT(which is available at ~ 5.6k)..for PSU, if u have good budget then buy Corsair VX450 ~ 4.2k or else buy Tagan 500W ~ 3.5k..or if u r low on budget then just buy VIP500W ~ 2.2k

ok, will go wid zotac amp edition

for psu, i dont hav any budget, but dont want to spend a penny more if not needed.

do i need vx450??

wht abt cx400?

or any other cheaper n reliable psu?

edit: can buy vx450 IF NEEDED

isnt 3gb ram enuf?

hav to go wid nvidia only

Go with the Zotac 9800GT + VX450.. perfect combo.. (not much of a diff. in price compared to tagan.. so better do a one time investment on this. Very reliable psu).

If possible , add a 2gb stick too.

Good luck. :)

VX450 for a 9800GT is overkill.

A Gigabyte 460 @ 2.4k is more than enough, even for OC on proccy and GPU.

Giga 460 is a good PSU for its price, and its 80+ efficient.

ZOtac 9800GT is a good one. You can also consider 4850@ 6.5k, or an MSI 4770 @ 6.5k. Both are better than 9800GT, with 4850 leading by big margin.

Giga 460 shud easily handle that 4850/4770/9800GT.

@mihirX

cx400W will also do your job easily..VX450 is a bit future proof as u can even run GTX260 on it..n i hope vx450W will handle most DX11 cards too cuz new cards will consume lesser power as chip size will b smaller in it so u might b able to run a DX11 card on VX450W with an ease :ohyeah:

nothing will b overclocked

dont want to b future proof, will run the same rig for nxt 10yrs :D

just dont want to spend extra thn wht i need

nvidia only

- thx all

next 10 yrs -> Corsair CX400 -> Simple Awesome @ Rs. 3.1k

Slightly Better voltage-noise suppression than VX450, so obviously wayyyy better than Gigabyte 460W and league ahead of VIP, etc.

Corsair 3-year replacement warranty.

Best combination for your system. i was in same dilemma once:

http://www.techenclave.com/pc-peripherals/urgent-can-corsair-cx400-take-need-129021.html

And for the GFX card, Zotac 9800GT is great with 3-year dealer warranty (+2yr manufacturer warranty)

First upgrade the RAM to atleast 3GB.

If u dnt plan on upgrading ur graphics card in 2-3 years, then u can go for a Gigabyte Superb 460 and the Zotac 9800GT.

Else, get the VX450 which will handle anything u throw at it in the future... :P

Get the facts right.

~ 4770 is for 7.5k, source - http://www.techenclave.com/dealers-paradise/sapphire-ati-radeon-cards-143472.html

~ He's looking for a future proof PSU. One's you mentioned, aren't. (Obviously comparing to the VX450)

~ Power consumption for 4850 is relatively very higher.

~ 9800GT at the current price is great vfm. As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, VX450 will easily be able to handle dx11 cards. Hence it is better off for him to buy the PSU once and for all.

lol
Get the facts right, thats what i too ve to say
Ive clearly mentioned MSI 4770. cant u read?

And can u describe how a gigabyte 460 isnt future proof, as he has clearly said he wont be upgrading nythin for next couple of years and looking for lowest yet a good PSU. Why should get a PSU, that cud even handle a GTX 275?

And are u sure the DX11 cards wud be there after 10 yrs, as the OP has clearly mentioned > he wont be upgrading for next 10 yrs.

Read the whole posts before start blaming others.:@

^ Alright , I won't say Lol until I prove myself. Call up any MSI dealer and ask. MSI 4770 is either not in stock or available for 7.5k (+/- 100). My sources? Mr.Sayyam , regional manager for MSI North India. Confirmed the prices today so nothing wrong with that.

I say the Gigabyte 460W isn't future proof because I just cannot openly recommend any and any TE member to go ahead and buy the PSU because I haven't seen the PSU being used anywhere and not even recommended by anyone. No reviews and absolutely nothing. So taking all that in mind I doubt it will be future proof. (comparing to the Corsair PSU which is all around and has proven it's VFM)

PS - I didn't BLAME anyone.

You cannot predict the future can you? What if his GPU gets fried or goes dead after the warranty period is over. He is bound to buy a New GPU. What will you recommend him then? Use the time machine? :/

If budget > 3K, get the CX400
Else, get the Gigabyte Superb 460W.

End of story...VX450 is far costly and the Tagan and Seasonic as well are ~3.5k. :cool2:
