I need a good pair of cheap headphones for viewing TV and some ocassional music. The last pair I had was Sony mdr xd200 which got spoilt. Its right side is completely dead. Tried continuity testing on wires from plug to speaker and they are fine. So no breakage in wire.

I was searching on eBay and fkart. Was reading reviews too and since I did these on mobile got confused after sometime. My older headphone had 40mm drivers and really good punchy bass and clear mids. I want something like that in my new pair.

Tried searching and the new ones have just 30mm drivers. I got some good reviews for some models.
Sony mdr zx100 & 300 which seems better than the zx100 by a bit.
Panasonic rpht161ek, and jbl tempo on ear.

Was thinking of xd300 or jbl but, I haven't decided on any yet. Are there any other good headphones in this <=1.5k range that you have or heard?

want something with good sound quality. its better if they are monitor type headphones. want in as less budget as possible :)

review for ath t200 says bass is poor in it. also some say treble is high which I don't prefer. in normal headphones, high treble gives me headache. couldn't find review for other model.[DOUBLEPOST=1375614191][/DOUBLEPOST]review for ath t200 says bass is poor in it. also some say treble is high which I don't prefer. in normal headphones, high treble gives me headache. couldn't find review for other model.

Off topic but i had the mdr xd100 with the same problem. There are screws below the ear padding. I opened it and saw a wire hanging. Must be due to pulling the wire. Got it soldered and it worked well again. You can try opening them too.

How are Philips headphones? Amazon. has good prices on many headphones with free shipping in India. Sellers are croma, Vijay sales and some sellers common to both flipkart and Ebay.

Saw that a noise canceling headphone Philips shn5600/10, is available for 1500.
Review says its decent but lacks mids a bit.

Has anyone got those Mitashi and such headphones (not earphones) which have inbuilt radio and work on radio frequency. Requires batteries too. Costs less than 700 Rs in most cases.
Anyone tried those ?

^ my cousin has an Intex one, wireless. cost around 500 or so and have the things you mentioned. its all crap:wtf:. pathetic plastic build, sound. he just got it to watch TV.

I was thinking of getting this Sony mdr ma 100

Even I was looking at the xb400, but it has small drivers. I will probably get ma100 or buy jbl or this xb400 if I get a good coupon.
i just got it a few days back and it is actually best in that price except for slight a bit delicate build. the sound kills anything in sub2k for bass.
And let me tell you i have AT sj33 wich has 40mm drivers but xb400 sounds bigger on bass even with its 30mm. Driver size is not the only thing that makes sound bigger or bassiero_O

Me too ordered xb400 after reading reviews on many sites. Many places it was mentioned that XB400 were good for movies and tv shows.

bumping this thread up to ask a question.
suppose I increased my budget to around 2k, would these headphones be worth it?

I saw reviews of it on headfi, and people seem to be praising it a lot. The Ebay item has just one month seller warranty though.
Its the first time I'm hearing of superlux though. :p

edit: the same seller is selling hd662 for 1949 (it was 1749 till 5th sep). both have got really good reviews on many sites.
662 is closed cans, whereas the 681 is semi open.

I got the Hd662 from eBay for around a little less than 1.8k.
The headphones are huge. After getting used to Sony super bass, the bass in these seem little flat. Sound clarity is good. Little sharp in higher notes.

I feel it needs a good amp to drive it, cause when using my cowon d2 player, the higher the volume was, the better the headphones became.

Only con is the headband which clamps the head tightly. It seems to be made of steel and quite tight. The ear foams which give good isolation, become hot after some time.
