@ALPHA17
No way man...I ain't gonna order the card and waste the only PCI-E port present:(
The specs of the mobo clearly says "supports S/PDIF"

man..what does that mean? anyways I need to buy a card.
supports SpDIF is like a crap statement...i so wanna sell my mobo before it has even reached me:)

it does... Under Specs-->Audio--> Point 4 "Support for S/PDIF Out"

Which means there is an SPDIF header on the motherboard. You can easily make yourself a coaxial out.

Here is a guide on how to do that - http://www.techenclave.com/overclocking-n-modding/my-diy-spdif-coax-bracket-94647/

EDIT: Here's the first one sangram had drafted - http://www.techenclave.com/guides-tutorials/digital-output-onboard-audio-53028/

Pretty easy to make one.

No it isn't. Supports SPDIF means your motherboard indeed supports it but does not have a connector on the rear I/O panel.

Buying a card for digital out is sheer stupidity when the DAC on the card is ultimately going to be bypassed when you use the digital audio out through it.

Like OCZ Vertax 4 is the best option in 120/128gb category, what is the best SSD option in 60/64gb category?

Guys,
I am planning chuck my GIGABYTE-B7M-D3H and get a intel based motherboard.
Can anyone suggest me the most economic Intel mobo for i7 3770?

Why dear Tommy ... what's wrong with it?
And you now want an "Intel" branded board for the 3770 :banghead: - What's your budget ?

Nothing wrong as such I want a optical out; more PCI-E slots for some USB 3 add ons
Thats it.

Budget between 4-6k---> can stretch by 25%

#terence_fdes thanks.
By Optical out I meant a dedicated SPDIF out for my Logitech Z906 speakers.

Let me see the above...Can u suggest me just one which will suit my purpose:
Light Gaming
Mostly HD movies
Some internet

Cor Blimey. This is a tricky proposition SPDIF out ON A MOTHERBOARD......... I am clueless.

I think/thought that an SPDIF I/O would only be available through dedicated - Audio Cards. I had one such thing on my 9 year old rig - through the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum card..... but now dunno whether it exists

Phew

Almost all motherboards had dedicated SPDIF out earlier...I had a Gigabyte G31 (3k) and that had a SPDIF.
Nowadays Gigabyte has stopped putting these.

of your above links, all the Asrocks have SPDIF whereas Gigabyte, Asus doesn't.

Then it's ASRock Z77 for you ;) (you get your SPDIF & a fantastic board too), you can check out all the reviews of this board. It's one of the best Z77 VFM boards out there.

Enjoy
Terry

P.S: On a personal note, how would you rate the Logitech Z906 (I've never had a chance to hear them). Does it "actually" playback flawlessly DTH, Dolby 5.1 etc (I was actually considering it as compared to the Bose 2.1 Companion series -Only whose design puts me off, as it's difficult to place them in my room)

From an Audiophile's view...one word review "Crappy" (overall sound signature).

These speakers lack the mids. Also, if u are a bass freak this is good enough. I sold me Z5500 and got these but somehow I repent the decision. Z5500 was better IMO.
But for movies, casual music and gaming combined; this gives you the best bang for buck.
I have a PS3, xbox, PC and ipod connected (all at the same time) and 3 are on digital connectivity. So its a great buy.
