^^Yes thats right, when comparing them both, Seasonic has a bit of edge but due to 5 year warranty and kickass RMA, Corsair is the winner for me.

The VX450 is the same as the Seasonic S12II.

Only difference being, the Seasonic uses a solid cap on the 12V rail, and the efficiency (weirdly enough) seems to be a bit higher.

Not sure whether the VX450 is based on the Seasonic 430W or the 500W model, but the fact that it has an airflow baffle that only the Seasonic 500W model has.. I would assume, it is a Seasonic 500W.

So then, leaving aside warranty and RMA, which is the better PSU? I've been meaning to start a thread about this, now looks like I may not need to.

I got it for 4.1k With taxes included. The guy didn't budge below 4k. He said he himself gets it for 4k which i doubt

Btw.. Since corsair claims that its 80%+ efficient, is there by any chance that it'll reflect on my electricity bill?

Yeah, it will take less power from your line to produce the same output thus reducing e.bill. :)

The cheap PSU's efficiency is usually somewhat around 50-55%. So you can expect a bill cut down of 75-200 per month according to your use and the tariff.

^^ Another one falling for the Watts :P

VX450 = 80+ Standard
Seasonic = 80+ Bronze and offers more power than VX450 with the same input.

Not to mention VX450 is just a fork of Seasonic.

Please take a look at the chart in this review for VX450

Corsair VX450W Power Supply Review | Hardware Secrets

According to the efficiency which is given in there...doesnt it qualify for a 80+ bronze? it even comes close to 80+ silver isnt it?

but at the same time...the chart here in this review

Corsair VX450W: Quiet Value PSU | silentpcreview.com

says something different....:bleh:

is it because both the reviewers are using different standard input voltages??.....like 110v and 230v? 230v will give better efficiency AFAIK

First you will not find VX450 under 4k, it will set you back a little over 4.2k ..

So a Corsair VX450 (aka Seasonic S12II 500W) for 4.2k vs a Seasonic S12II 430W for 3.8k. Looks to me like there's a clear winner.

Unless you need the longer life-span offered by a solid cap on the 12V rail of the 430.

Not that low, generic PSUs will be atleast 60% efficient and usually tops out at 70%.

Exactly the problem, a single review site hasn't compared efficiency between the two. Considering they're both internally the same, the 80+ rating seems a bit off.
