The latest on the RTS front is DOW2. I have been playing it for the past 3 weeks and the gameplay (especially multiplayer) is awesome with a mixture of RTS and RPG. Emphasis is more on micromanagement and less on macro.

Company of heroes - Best RTS of 2007 if not for SC (Supreme Commander). Pretty good single player and Multiplayer is a blast too.

Supreme Commander - The RTS king for the hardcore RTS fans. A little on the difficult side to pick up initially but a superb game nevertheless.

Take note that most of my experiences are based on multiplayer. I haven't played the DOW2 SP campaign but heard it's just ok. COH SP is good though. Supreme commander really sucks in the SP campaign part but its multiplayer is a force to be reckoned with.

WC3 is the most polished RTS out of them all receiving updates even 6 years after release.
While the single player experience is debatable, the multiplayer is downright stellar. Very balanced and still widely played.

DOW was nice but COH is broken in multiplayer (everyone rush to tanks or lose).

Newest RTS is Tom Clancy's EndWar based on world war 3.

Warcraft III + FT was a masterpiece of olden times.. It'd look crappy @ high resolutions !

COH multiplayer is broken?? Dude, most of the gamereplays if you checkout from pro players is infantry rushing. 75% of the game is decided in the infantry phase.

The only thing broken abt the COH multiplayer is its P2P setup for multiplayer which is a little harsh on my router and a pain to setup initially with portforwarding required.

Nah !!! not so great ... limited units.. repetitive gameplay. Tiberium is skirmish was better than this game's !

The best game for this genre is AOE. Try AOE3. Its the best no comparison.
