Suggestions required for a ultra-compact but powerful desktop

@ALPHA17

There are 4 3.5" bays in the vulcan, 2 at the bottom and 2 at the top. And there should not be any heating issues with mini ITX as OP has no intentions of overclocking. Fact that Silverstone has produced so many mini ITX cases and its wide acceptance by enthusiasts should give us an idea.
@Mohit

I am having a look at the NZXT Vulcan. I will compare the dimensions and see. One more issue with the Vulcan is that it is a total mesh design which will make it prone to dust collection.

Agreed, but if you like the case and are willing to do a little modification to that mesh, it should turn out like in the image below,

A simple piece of plexyglass cut into shape and used in the place of the mesh.

If you are willing to wait for a few more months for a perfect mini ITX case, Bitfenix has something called as Prodigy, expected to be released in a month's time now (or maybe two). Whether it will be available here, and how you will import it is upto you to think. In the mean time watch these two videos.

Sire try to contact Prime ABGB they are the front for SilverStone in India and they can guide you best.

Hope this helps, Cheers!!

Thanks. I have already contacted them but haven't got a response yet. Hoping that they are willing to bring this particular model in India. It might just create a whole new segment in the desktop computer market.

Bumping this thread again. What would be the best small form factor (mini-itx) configuration currently? Budget 30-40K approx. There must be a lot of new hardware now I guess?

^Well after many rig suggestions by other members and me here is another one-
Core i3 3220-7.5k OR Core i5 3450-11.4k[These processors are from the newer Intel Ivy Bridge lineup]

Thanks Jakob. I have some queries though,

1. Will the Gigabyte B75M D3H Micro Atx board fit in a Mini-Itx cabinet?

2. The HD6850 and 7770 still cost the same even after 4-5 months? No other new gpu launches?

3. I am still confused about the cabinet. Just can't decide. The Vulcan is All-Mesh which I don't want.

Thanks.

^^ No the µATX motherboard will not fit inside a m-ITX cabinet.

Yep, the prices of the cards has pretty much stabilized at that point ~9000/- -->10500/-. There is a new offering from nVidia, the GTX650 but it is not a great difference in performance, in-fact weaker at most points vis-á-vis the former.

There are not a lot of options at your price point for compact cabinets. You can have a look at this one though -- BitFenix Outlaw ~3900/-.

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

The Outlaw again looks big. The Prodigy looks decent. I just need a simple small compact cabinet which will be compatible with the right specs mentioned above. No overclocking or anything.

Also, I will have to get the Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3 board then? This is the best option?

1.The Gigabyte B75M D3H won't fit in a M-ITX Case,You'd have to a M-ATX Case for that.
2.Yes the prices are still the same of the GPU under 10k,The HD7850 and HD7870 prices have been cut down by 3-4k.Nvidia has launched GTX650-Ti but it's priced at 10k so the prices and performance is more the same.
3.If you don't likn Vulcan then try Cooler Master 341/361-2.5k OR Silverstone SST-TJ08B-5.5k,LIAN LI PC-V351B-5.4k.
Hope this helps.

^^ The GTX650 is for ~10500/-.

The GTX650Ti retails for ~13000/- closer to the HD7850 which it competes with.

For the cabinet, I suggest the Cooler Master eLite 120 Advanced. The only one which comes with UB 3.0 front ports.

Try to get in touch with the @Coolermaster TE Representative for more details. Cheerio!

I think this would be better time to have a look around at lammy for the rates.Need to know what's the latest pricing of components.
Cannot believe my eyes, nVidia offering such price.

But performance vis-á-vis the AMD HD7770 is not a great improvement. AnandTech - Bench - GPU12

Although TWIMTBP games show obscene amounts of favour to the nVidia card.

Ok so now the final rig looks like this,

Core i3 3220-7.5k
Gigabyte GA-H61N-USB3[M-ITX Mobo]-6.5k
G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2GB 1600mhz-1.5k
Sapphire HD 6850 1GB-9.5k OR HD7770-9k or Nvidia

Corsair CX 430V2-2.5K
APC RS-600 VA-1.9k
Cooler Master Elite 120 Advanced - ??

I just need to clear the following:

1. Which GPU finally among the above 3?
2. Price of CM Elite 120 Advanced?
3. Will the PSU i.e Corsair CX 430V2 be sufficient for the above rig?
4. Please suggest a good gaming keyboard/mouse combo in around 5k budget.

Everything else looks good to go.

Thanks.

@Mohit, here is my opinion --
  • Go for the nVidia GTX650Ti
  • Price of the Cooler Master eLite 120 Advanced ~3500/- (let me talk to the Cooler Master REP and give you an exact figure, where do you stay)
  • Corsair CX v2430 OR Cooler Master GX40W should be capable of handling the RIG just fine.
For a good gaming mouse + keyboard combo, this is what I suggest --
LOGITECH G300 / G400 ~1500/-
MICROSOFT Sidewinder X4 ~2000/- OR LOGITECH G105 ~2700/-

Hope this helps, Cheerio!

Thanks. I will go with the Corsair CX430 V2 and the Nvidia Geforce GTX650Ti (Brand? Zotac?). Also the Sidewinder X4 looks neat and is backlit too. I will also have a look at the G400 Logitech mouse.

I am located at Raipur, Chhattisgarh and availability of parts is a major issue over here. I might have to get everything shipped from outside.
