I have around 4 years car fitted with JBL speakers and Pioneer head. The head does not have USB or bluetooth connectivity. It only has "Audio in" socket which I use to connect to my phone.
Its a bit clumsy and now I am looking to get some device to make the head bluetooth ready.
Looking at the cheapest solution(but should have decent audio quality).
Please throw your suggestions.......

get one of those stand alone bluetooth jabra players.I think a good one costs in the region of 3 to 4 k.

what is the rating of the adapter that goes into it?

The output says 5V, 0.2A. I got myself a Belkin micro auto charger (from ebay, cost me < 200 INR inc. of shipping) which goes into the 12V DC receptacle. This has a USB socket that outputs 5V but at 1A. If your Belkin music receiver can work with that amperage, it shouldn't be a problem.

All you need to do is to get this Belkin charger and plug it into the 12V receptacle. Buy a cheap USB cable and with some basic DIY skill, you can solder the output cable from your AC adapter with the USB cable which can then be plugged into this socket.

^ Excellent, I have one spare belkin car charger which came with some other bluetooth device. Will check its configuration and update here.

I had bought a pioneer 6250BT two years back for around Rs 8000 (Grey Market). It is very good and convenient as phone. It picks up the phone book, last dialed Nos etc. But this model does not have A2DP (I'm not sure of the exact word) So you cant listen to music from Phone on Car Stereo. The previous model had this feature. Also I guess the next model would have. But otherwise it is excellent. You dont need to take the phone out of the pocket for even Dialing a No.
