Tailscale won't create a direct connection

Well folks, turns out I was the IDIOT after all.
I was looking at things after disabling Ipv6 and rebooting the router. I saw that there was a direct connection to another machine which is also on Oracle cloud.
Oracle does not have the most intuitive UI, so apparently I had multiple networks inside it. With this machine being newer, part of the new network where tailscale's required ports were not configured, a direct connection was not possible.

The older network had 443/41641 UDP ingress opened, and this one did not.

I am still suprised how my device A was able to create a direct connection to vps machine, my ISP must not be using a hard nat, which again surprises me.

My macbook being able to make a direct connection made me assume that all networking things are configured on the vps side and the problem is client side.

But wow, really surprised by the support and help you folks offered here, I'm forever grateful. Hit me up anytime if you want to talk homelabs and automation :)

I finally have a good 175Mbps connection to the VPS on my 200Mbps connection, which is expected.

Thanks again, everyone !

I think I'm going to look into using terraform to setup my vps machines to avoid such "issues"

Nice!
Glad you were able to figure it out.

It's often the things we least expect that eventually turn out to be the problem lol

A friend of mine moved a while ago and this PC wouldn't boot up after the move.
We tried everything: reseating things, changing cables, swapping PSUs, what not. Just to figure out what could be wrong.
Literally spent hours.

Almost gave up and decided to take a break for some beer.
While fetching it he happened to glance at the back of the monitor.
There was a power switch there.
And it was off..
