Tata Docomo 3G Pre-Lauch Day Short Review ...1st in India

Well many of us were waiting so badly for Tata Docomo 3G in the last few days. Well here it is finally in Bangalore TATA Docomo 3G signal is live and access is permitted from today morning.

First I had put my existing Tata Docomo 3G sim inside my Nokia 5230 and the speeds were quite good at around 1 ~ 1.5 Mbps or so. Please not this is using the APN : TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET. Balance will be deducted on using the APN as per your GPRS balance or from main account.

I then connected it using my Huawei E122 HSDPA 7.2 Mbps / HSUPA 5.76 Mbps capable 3G Modem to my PC to checkout the tethered speeds. So here are few speedtests and screenshots :





Also here is a screenshot of download speed using IDM which is giving much higher speeds :



I cant test any other services like Video Streaming, Gaming etc as I am not quite sure on how to access them. If anyone has more info on it please post a comment here.

Here I will sign out with my 1st short review on TATA Docomo 3G.

The review will be updated once I find a way to use the other 3G features of Tata Docomo like live TV streaming, HD Voice, Gaming etc.

no problem wit ur fone..m in b'lore too.. using bsnl 3g on galaxy3
i think the menus are same as spica...
Go to menu-->> settings-->>wireless and network-->>mobile networks-->> network mode
there u'll find 3 options..select WCDMA.

Just changing the Network mode to UMTS mode wont work ( in Balance deduction ) make sure that u've selected TATA INTERNET as the Default settings, u might have set it to DOCOMO DIVE-IN or something else ! Revert :) !

no dude..settings are not same on galaxy 3 and spica...

der s no such setting in my phone to sele t wcdma,auto...or somethin else...

am using TATA.DOCOMO.INTERNET as th access point name...
 
If u re using tata.docomo.internet and even then ur balance is getting deducted means wither u don ve a data pack or ur data pack has expired
 
nothing wrong with my data plan n balance....nothing deducted.....

problem is with the 3g signal stabilty......n speed

whats the APN settings for tata docomo 3G
 
Supra, Can you post your signal level(in dBM) where you got 5+ Mbps speed?

Is there any problem in docomo-3g today? i couldnt use at all in my area now :( connection getting dropped frequently and speed also < 5 - 10 KBs :(
 
I have the 2G / 48 rs plan activated for docomo for a month but when i use phone in UMTS mode, i am able to use the internet but never get 3.5G speeds. Always get 2G EDGE speeds to the most.

Is it because 3G has not officially launched yet in Pune ?
