Fiber optic internet connections are always going to be better than wireless connections. They provide a more stable connection and faster speeds.
There is no comparison between wireless and wired line, my comparison was between Jio and BSNL. This is what I was talking about

Recent talks of BSNL partnering with Starlink makes the outlook look very positive. With both Tata and Musk backing BSNL has a good chance to grab a decent market share if priced right

if TATA & Musk, have over hand in daily work/connection etc. in this joint venture than only it will sustain. As we all know how fast BNSL in paper & connection work.

Pretty good speeds on 3G+ network.
Wish they could provide at least 1/7th of that consistently around the nation.

BSNL is doing something good alongside other providers though.

In support of the rescue mission and in solidarity with the affected citizens, BSNL announced that it is offering free unlimited calls, data usage, and 100 SMS per day for three days to all customers in Wayanad district and Nilambur Taluk.

- BSNL Restores 4G Services, Provides Free Calls and Data to Wayanad Residents

That's because that network is almost empty. If tomorrow half of the jio customers leave jio/switch off their mobile phones then jio 4g speeds too will jump back to the earliest test phase 100mbps+ speeds.
Technically the network is capable of over Gbps speeds. The operators have placed a much lower speed cap which of course gets worse with traffic. It will only get worse with the switch to 5G over time.

That's because 4g/5g all get their bandwidth directly from the backend optical fiber link backbone which is also used for providing core connectivity so obviously there will be reasonable speed caps on 4g/5g networks.

I am thinking about taking a new bsnk sim. What's their absolute minimum recharge for a month?
This latest official PDF Document attached here contains all of BSNL plans (For Kolkata and the rest of India except North East, Assam and J&K):

You might have to dig in a bit to find the absolute minimum but from the very first page, here are the calculations:

If you don't need data or SMS, Voice STV 183 plan offers validity for 84 days and charges you for calls on per second basis. Check the PDF for more details on that. You end up paying 2.17 rupees per day with this plan which adds up to 795.17 Rupees for 365 days. No free calls, zero data, zero SMS.

Plan 397 - This plan offcers validity for 150 days and offers you unlimited Calls, 100 SMS/day as well as 2GB data/day for the first 30 days. Once those 30 days are over, you will have to top-up data packs or talktime as/if you need to initiate calls. SMS would probably be charged 1 Re. each. This plan costs you 2.64 INR/day and for 365 days, you'll pay 966 Rupees assuming you don't need the talktime or data beyond what's included in the pack. How much it adds up depends upon your usage.

Plan 797 - This plan offers validity for 300 days and offers you unlimited Calls, 100 SMS/day as well as 2GB data/day for the first 60 days. This plan costs you 2.65 INR/day and for 365 days, you'll pay 969.70 Rupees assuming you don't need the talktime or data beyond what's included in the pack. Rest is applicable as above.

Plan 1198 - This plan offers validity for 365 days and provides 300 minutes of free calls, 30 Free SMS as well as 3 GB of mobile data every month. Adds up to 3600 minutes of free talk time, 360 SMS and 36 GB of data for one full year. Meaning, once you pay for this plan, you'll not need to worry about talktime for the rest of the year. This is the best plan for those who don't need unlimited talktime/data and intend to use BSNL as their primary SIM.

For the North East, Assam and J&K folks, refer here for the plan details - https://www.bsnl.co.in/opencms/bsnl/BSNL/services/mobile/NExJxKxASSAM_LSA_.html

Sure...
My point was if BSNL was allowed to compete for 4g spectrum, then there wouldn't be monopoly/dependency on a single provider. Right now, Jio's only to blame for their pathetic speeds by not allowing others to compete in the spectrum allocation, with the sole objective of having maximum subscribers.

In spite of all this the ball is, will and always be in Jios court! Thanks to modi govt.
Govt. could have easily made BSNL the JIO if they ever wanted but NO!
can't, too much corruption and politics, this is the reason why govt run companies are being sold off, what they should have instead done is semi-privatize BSNL, Air India or others, you get the benefits of a state run service and the structure of a corporate,

There's a reason why people aspire to get even a job of a chaprasi in a govt. office.

Not Musk, he's not reliable, is a known ****wad, misogynist and transphobe/anti-lgbt, would happily trample on human rights and sell his own mother/children if that got him more money and is a known Russian/Chinese shill
