Techtree hack? Or my PC?

I tried opening the forums at techtree...instead automatically got redirected to Yahoo. Then this weird pop-up, 0blivi0n rulz :S

some sort of spyware/trojan/virus....try Antivirus scan and clean ur system with anti spyware s/w such as ad-aware or spybot s&d or webroot spyware cleaner.
 
Well...clean chit from Spybots and Avast. I think TT is screwed, don't get this with any other site. Even with TT its random.

why dont u scan for adware/spyware, etc, maybe the systems infected....

besides, techtree's a looser anyways:hap2:

inspite of beeing a mod there, i have stopped visiting and spending my time on a sub-standard website, i find techenclave.com and tech2.com far more better with better content...
 
^^ True!! But considering your stature at TT, I dont't think you should be mentioning such a thing on a public forum..No offence intended..

@hellfire : Just checked..Its working fine here..so must be a trojan/spyware issue..
 
Hmmm, thats strange updated Ad-Aware, Spybots, Avast all tell me I'm clean. That strange pop-up was just one-off thing, couldn't get it again; but redirection to Yahoo continues whenever I try to enter one of their forums on Firefox 2. Then I tried IE and no redirection :S
 
Try defenza. Removed a zeno trojan once with it. Had tried ad-aware and a no. of spyware removal programs without success.
 
i had this problem some time back. All files on one of my servers was injected with some code. It had added a tracking code to some fake site. I checked all logs but could not find any trace. the code injection was very clever and messed up very few files.

Techtree might have encountered something similar. If possible next time look into the page source. if you can see the code there for that alert....its not a trojan in ur box but techtree in trouble....

EDIT: Try Nod32. its very good at catching trojans when they are being downloaded.

They are dumb enough to let the message be there for so long. He hasnt done much damage though..seems to be a good guy, just messing around. not a turk for sure!!!
