The Bangalore to Bengaluru Debate

I agree with dipdude. As much as I hate the bastardisation of our citys name, it is something that we have to live with and accept. Plus, it could be worse... you know, like Chennai.:bleh:
 
Now honestly tell me why do you guys believe Bengaluru is so demeaning/not befitting to your city's image. Does the substance of an city lie in its name or its about the people/culture/traditions.

Even i am against name change but now that its done, why this aversion to it. After all there were about 10 months for people to protest and honestly i did not hear a single whimper or maybe they did not publicize it. So the eternal question is will the TE Members from Bangalore embrace the new name or refuse to accept it ?

PS: We are only discussing name change in general as per members request.
 
Nobody likes changes... But one has to accept it...

That being said i would like to mention this... My City's name will not be changed ever P... Why cause its NOIDA... New Okhla Industrial Development Authority :D
 
I will refuse to accept it. Of course, I cant do anything major. But I will do what I can. I refuse to type the new name. I refuse to let the new name cross my lips. I have been born and brought up in Bangalore. That is it.
 
we at trivandrum/thiruvananthapuram got over this long ago... right now, we're up for a third name change to ananthapuri... pple want the city's name to move up in alphabetical lists , plus THIRUVANANTHAPURAM is a bit long in the tooth :p

For once , the silliness of the government's action (the re-naming) is perhaps being relegated to a second rank by the unnecessary aversion diplayed by the educated folks on TE :p

PArdon me for the cliché but Bangalore/Bengaluru by any other name would smell as sweet and be as hep ;)
 
^^Its not limited to bengaluru either... there are many more cities with changed names heh. The better name one of them kangaroolu :rofl:.

Bangalore sounded good ... like singapore ... :p

but the new name sucks to core . . . . . bangalooru...
for f0lks who cant understand the toughest language kannada,, 'UURU' means a location name that is mostly used in rural areas....now the change of name to MUMBAI from bombay is good...it sounds & pronouces gr8...but bangalooru...sheesh...:bshit:

obviously Bangalore.

The fvking people dont have any other job to do. you see, Bangalore is UTOPIA. We have no pressing issues to deal with. No traffic problems, no infrastruccture issues, no poverty, no unemployment, govt schools rock.

SO, because they govt has accomplished everything else, they start wasting time and people's money and start doing utterly useless things like this.
