don't want to go off topic here, but want to star reading "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.
some flipkart reviews have issue with edition they got and binding quality.
Should i order it from them?
waited for a long time for funds, now want to order it ASAP.
I ordered it from HS18 and they were all in good condition.

So read through some 50 odd pages of Death at SeaWorld yday, and it's a gripper. Just reading through the part where Dawn Brancheau was killed by one of the killer whales, being described in detail by 3 onlookers, was so horrifying. :(

Dude, you are late by just 4/5 days. There was some (Independence day offer) sale in Amazon India as well as in Flipkart on various books including ASOIAF and most of the ASOIAF books were available for around 150 bucks. (I got both parts of Book#3 for 153 a piece) \m/

Anyway, I got this edition of the #1 and its like any other paperback. And being a 800+ pages book its huge, it should be handled with li'l care. I am reading it currently and I saw no problem with the binding.

The ones from Amazon.in have been pretty good quality wise.

ok, so these book sets are original ones or the "Tv ties in" ones?[DOUBLEPOST=1376987928][/DOUBLEPOST]I'm going to order it from flipkart.
is there any difference between the various editions of the books apart from the "cover design"?

There are no TV tie-in "ones"; just the cover may be different to attract TV viewers. There is only one main edition of each book.

Finished Shantaram and it surely seems like an achievement :) Author's writing style is little different giving little bit of philosophy here and there. He describes the scenes in detail. I liked this book.

Have started Millennium Trilogy and currently reading "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo".

One more thing, use http://www.indiabookstore.net/ to compare books prices before buying. You can save some bucks ;)

PS: I am not associated with this site. Am just giving a helpful tip to fellow members :)

so, whats the best deal for the ASOIAF books now? saw the amazon.in deals, including a few posts in the showoff thread, but was travelling and couldn't order earlier...

Where do you guys source your reads from? Paperbacks/Ebooks/Libraries or do you just "elephants dream" the lot?
Well I read on my Nook as well as I buy paperbacks for books I couldn't find in Kindle library. I must say that I just love my Nook, reading hasn't been so convenient and economical earlier :)

Are the ebook prices always around ~500? (I just did a quick search of amazon.in for classics like 1984, catch 22, etc.) or are they much higher for newer book?

I normally buy paperbacks from fk, amazon etc. With various offers I had bought around 20 books in last year for almost 150 bucks on average.

btw, I'm done with GOT #1. (Now I'm gonna have to watch the GoT season 1 again. :p)
before going for #2, I would finish of some long pending queues. (Those 800+ paged books takes lots of time to finish) :(

Now picked - 'The day of the Jackal' - Frederick Forsyth.
