It's a slightly old title but has anyone played it yet? :)

The reviews are not all that great (favourable I'd say) but the gameplay videos indicate that the God-of-War-3 clone has some decent graphics to boot and some POP-like platforming apart from the usual stuff found in hack-n-slash gameplay such as picking up orbs, quick time events, fights with massive bosses and so forth.

A lot of similarities have been drawn from God-of-War 3. I should be getting my copy in about 2 days' time.

Played it on the PSP and preferred God of War to it on the platform if it matters... Graphics were average. Ok game.. nothing memorable.

I have completed the game some time back. Played most of it in the hellish summer afternoon heat and it and it made the experience even more realistic. :P The game is pretty good and there are a lot of similarities to GOW3, but its not in the same league. A lot of XBOX fanboi's who didn't have a PS3 insisted that this is a much better game than GOW3 (Sour grapes I guess:P), but having played both, I can tell otherwise. Dante's Inferno is no where as polished as GOW3.

The game involves a lot of platforming and puzzle solving and the same is a lot tougher than GOW3. The fights themselves are not too tough IMO. Audio experience/music is top notch matched only by GOW3. Graphics could have been better (especially looking at what GOW3 was able to do). Storyline is great. The game definitely deserves at least one play though. However I can't help thinking that it could have been much better had the developers worked on it a bit more. Personally I felt that it was rushed to the market. I did not encounter any glitches, but seemed to lack polish.

^Nice. Thanks for the input. I think I have read that mini review of yours elsewhere. Deja vu! :P

I love games which involve a lot of platforming - Tomb Raider was one of the finest and hardest of them. Not the ones released recently but the original releases by the developer Core Design.

I enjoyed the game. All those God of War comparisons are completely useless. It's a stand alone game which shares a lot of similarities (in terms of gameplay) with a lot of other hack-en-slash games, not just God of War. The thing I loved about this game was the visual art style. Representing the circles of hell is not easy and the work put into giving an authentic look to the levels is amazing. The voice acting and story narration is a great. The cut-scenes adds a great touch in the story telling and it keeps shifting between a comic style display to 3D CGI ones. Combat is restricted to the use of just 2 weapons; your Scythe and Beatrice's Holy Cross. You also have additional magic attacks which you keep receiving as you progress through the game. The upgrade system is divided into Holy and unholy pattern. It's been a long time since I have played it, but I think upgrading Holy side would grant different abilities to your Holy Cross's combat & Unholy upgrade would mean Scythe's skill increase. The experience points you gain for these holy and unholy upgrades is determined on 'absolving' or 'punishing' option provided when you finish an enemy, respectively. The boss fights are pretty challenging and my only advice for the last boss is to upgrade as much as possible for the last enemy, else you're screwed. It took me 3 hours to take him down on Normal mode.

Thanks for this! Wasn't expecting a tough AI. :ashamed:

Got the game yesterday and played it for 5 hours on a single sitting. First impressions - not bad at all. :D

The game brought back some good memories of GOW3 - some elements of the game seems to have been inspired from GOW3 although not exactly copied or cloned I could add. For instance, Dante could ride the Asterian Beast after killing the minion who controlled it previously, which was very similar to Kratos riding the Cyclops. The only 2 weapons he could yield is the Scythe and the Cross and add to it the variety of combos he could pull off as the unholy and holy levels gets unlocked and upgrades are chosen. There are quite a few finishing moves as well. There are boss fights albeit not as much as there are in a game developed by some Jap devs. The rendering of hell has been done exceedingly well. The cutscenes which keeps switching between the comic style ones to the usual CGI based ones were awesome!

Completed Limbo, Lust and ATM I am yet to start the 3rd circle of hell - Gluttony.

I wonder why this game received a poor response from the reviews!

Don't forget to watch the extra videos from the Gallery once you have completed the game. It shows how they had managed to mo-cap a baby to render 'Unbaptized babies' movements and it's quite a challenging task. Also, watch the animated move which released shortly after the game came out.

Just defeated Lucifer. :D

Wasn't all that a big deal IMO. Bosses in NGS were way too hard. :P

Would i like this game after god of war 3 , though i'm not a button masher.
