The Dante's Inferno thread!

Playing this game right now, about 2 hours in, the amount of nudity in this game is horrible :'| Can't play all day when parents are awake. lol and a big time GoW Clone, even most of the controls are the same.

Both GOW 3 and Dante's Inferno released around the same time during 2010 so there is no way the developers intended it to be a clone of each other. The storyline is completely different but the gameplay has resemblances. That's it.

Try not to link this with GOW 3. :P

That's the point... they didn't copy GOW3, but they copied GOW2.

Get the copy-c@t thingy out of you mind, or else you won't be enjoying this title. :)

BTW, fill up your light skill tree as much as you can or the last fight is a real pain. And also keep an eye out for the relics. These nifty things are really handy if you know how to use them. ;)

I felt bored and nothing special at the end of game. I didn't enjoyed the experience. The environment used to change but super easy boss fights. I had to play GOW3 again to get the good feel back :P

^ Agree with xXx, not finding it enjoyable, and will not play now, maybe after a week or two later will give it a go again, and if i do i would love to follow Jojo's ideology.

GOW 3 is still on the hard drive occupying nearly 41GB. More like the perfect game to show-off the PS3 to friends. :P

Tired of a third playthrough although I wouldn't mind it as long as I can complete the pending backlogs quick.

As much as I would like to pimp GOW3, I wouldn't keep pitting it against every hack-en-slash game that comes out. Hasn't this discussion been done to death already? It feels like I'm stuck in a circular loop. :S

Dante's Inferno, when first shown the developers themselves claimed to be a COPY of GOW games. They themselves said it aloud - "We've copied GOW games and yes Dante's Inferno is a clone, as it matches all the button scheme & QTE events from GOW, you'll never feel outta place".

That quote I still remember, as I was excited to see GOW clone in different environment, but DI didn't helped a bit, as GOW3 released and blowed the socks off Dante. Hell YEAH!!!

Source for this quote? I have never seen any developer directly quoting their game being a direct copy of another game, leave alone quoting that it's a clone. At the best, they can twist the words and say that it has inspired some elements of the other game. But out rightly claiming that it's a clone of is a ridiculously stupid statement to make.

Dante's Inferno was never meant to be a competition or even pose a threat to God of War III. God of War III's demo alone was enough to blow away Dante's Inferno, right down to the last circle of hell. But that's not the point here. It's a different game, which used gameplay mechanics similar to God of War and that's it. I don't see how it was a bad game. If you want bad, play Conan. If you want worse, play Rise of the Argonauts.

^OMG please don't mention Rise of the Argonauts. I had lost all hope on Codemasters ever since I had my worst luck to have some hands-on in that game.

For folks still comparing GOW 3 and Dante's Inferno -

I am not able to find that link, but they said that their source for this game was GOW1. It was said when it was first previewed on similar lines -

"The brawler's controls and gameplay mechanics are actually identical to those of God of War, according to CVG's coverage of the preview, down to the part where players must mash O to open a chest and enemies leave behind health and magic orbs. Furthermore, certain cinematic actions, such as climbing a giant beast and replacing its previous rider, are accomplished by tapping buttons as they appear on-screen."

I ain't saying its a competition, I am just saying...they have borrowed so heavily from GOW, that even if you dont think about GOW; while playing it, you will be reminded of it. It was like a MOD, which re-skins all the models of GOW.

CVG and others who had previewed the game back then had all linked it to God of War, because the gameplay could be easily attributed to it. And I wouldn't blame them, as I myself, did that same thing. The only difference is, I didn't want to hold that against the game. I wanted to try it and find out how the nine circles of hell would be like. I wouldn't be arsed about the gameplay being similar to God of War or any other game. If such was the case, I would have skipped all the FPS war themed titles and jumped straight to every Call of Duty sequel that came out. Why bother with the rest? They are all clones right?

My friend, you clearly have God of War symbol tattooed in front of your eye balls. I have explained this in my previous posts and I keep repeating myself time and again, but every detail just gets shut out, except for the words "God of War". OK, answer me this, Do you feel that Bayonetta is similar to DMC? If yes, then how do you feel about the gameplay elements being similar to DMC games? Bad thing? Keep in mind Kamiya is working with a different team now and it's not Capcom.

PS: Is Nathan Drake a re-skinned Lara Croft? I'm not sure, but when people saw UC initial gameplay footage, they touted it to be a "male version of Tomb Raider/Lara Croft".

Peace Out...Ally :P

I haven't played Bayonetta yet...except for Demo....and Yes...UC was touted as Male Tomb Raider...but UC's gameplay completely stumped all that was Tomb Raider, and that was not the case with DI. Anyways....m too fascinated with GOW, that I stop comparing it with DI's gameplay.

All I'm asking, is to keep an open mind when you play these kind of games. If you have completed the game and didn't find it interesting, then I'm completely OK with that. But if you're saying that it turned out that way, because it tried to mimic God of War, then that is a bit harsh. :)

I had kept an open mind while playing DI...and I completed that game till the end...but as I mentioned earlier too, nothing surprised / excited me.
