The Dead Space thread!

The game is tough but also fun,if u play it in the dark u get startled a lot,uu get to upgrade ur suit too,it looks sick in lvl 4 suit,i got stuck a lot in this game, there is one stage that there are so many aliens that u can play at all,i had to go backto the other part of the ship and buy a many weapons with a lot of ammo ,to get through that, and i get the 0 gravity in the game too.i dint face ne issue with the mouse even with vsync on?

I remember completing this game right after leaving Far Cry 2 mid-way. Both of them had released around the same time, but back then, I was more excited to play FC2. Surprisingly, while FC2 pee'd on all my excitement, this game actually pulled me into it. The whole atmosphere of a deserted space ship with creepy things in every nook and corner was enough to give us heebee-jeebies!

I never had any issues with aiming in the game. I used the 360 controller and had V-Sync enabled (hate tearing). The game ran exquisitely well even though I had an E6300 processor back then. From what I bleakly remember, I had maxed out my suit upgrade, Line Gun & Plasma Cutter. I didn't use Flame thrower that much, except on those Swarms which spawned out of Pregnant necromorph. You'll have to watch the Animated movie, it's a serves as a worthy prequel to the game. You'll also come across certain characters in the movie, the audio logs of which, you'll find in the game.

well i played on the 360. with z5500 ( bass and volume cranked up) at night with lights turned off......really at day the game looses its charm....nights is when it shines ( with good surround speakers of course)

I played this game when I had just received my Sennheiser HD202s so thought of using them. And this was my first horror game.Fired it up and put on my headphones. Played till I encountered the first necromorphs. Shot one of them and saw him fall down like a log. Great I thought. Moved towards the door and as soon as I came near the 'dead' body, the bloody thing jumped up and had me by the throat. *girl scream*

Suffice it is to say, that I didnt use my headphones from then onwards. :p

it 'd be even better with surround sound!!

hearing the drops of water, hearing the necromorphs behind you....air leaks ....it ll adds up for a great experience

Completed the game just now! :D

Was a brilliant experience for a survival horror title. On a rating out of 10, I'd rate this a 9 and Doom 3 a 8 based on the scare factor - the sounds were just awesome. I played it using my cans and used to turn off my lights.

The last boss was very easy. Shoot the yellow glowing thingy on its body and baam, it dies. :p

Dead Space 2 is going to be out Jan 2011. Eagerly waiting for it. Isaac who'd be reprising his role as the engineer and the primary protagonist is undergoing severe PTSD following the events of Dead Space I.

Next up - Mass Effect I. wOOt! :D

Looks like I should finish the game.. my total playtime : 25 mins, after which I promptly moved on to the sunlight and crowds of BC2 :/

Reminds me of my horrible (note - not good) experience. That game made me realise how someone can get creative and ruin a game using the mouse response. It was utter patheticness(if thats a word), hated it to the core.

^Which was why I mentioned in the first post, turning off V-Sync would make that laggy responsiveness alright. I felt the same when I fired the game for the first time. I believe you are using an ATI card. This could be a problem related to ATI cards since many users have reported otherwise.

Besides, there's not much screen tearing anyway so it's fine if V-Sync is turned off.

Hmm, I believe those problems are with ATI cards, I never had a problem with Dead Space with my card. In fact, I played it from start to end without any problem.

On topic- there are so many awesome moments in the game. I doubt the standards set by Dead Space will be matched again by Dead Space 2. I really want to see what new Dead Space 2 can do. Or it will end up like Bioshock 2. Good game but not quite amazing like the original.

I have an nvidia card and had the vsync issue as well. The same, googling to turn off v-sync fixed it for me.

never had any tearing in spite of turning it off.

Also, it does have a proper map as well :p

I think you need to press m or j or tab. don't remember exactly which.

Don't you ever look at tutorials/menu options?

Sad part is, I'm still stuck at the 4th level. The day I started playing, I ran up-till there.. haven't touched it after that :|

Need to find some time to finish the damn thing. Stoopid steam has given me such a massive backlog

what to say about the epicness of the 4850 :p

The game is best played with controller so get a x360 controller who are having issues with the m0use.

Weird. I have an ATI card & it worked without any issues on it, with V-Sync ON.
Ya, I never faced any issue. Have ATI accelerators too. The response time was fine, I just found it difficult (initially) that the 'aim' system took a while. Slightly laggy -- just nitpicking here...!
