iv got a beat too...was thinking of changing tyres...arnt 175 a bit too wide? was thinking 165

175 patch is the widest you can go on the stock steel rims (4.5j). 20mm over the stock size is definitely not too wide, given the OE specifications (155/70/R14) is too lean for the car anyways. I was inclined to go with 165/65/14 (OE for Beat Diesel), but you do not get either XM2s or A-drives in that size. Ride comfort and handling were the priorities, the added bonus with the A-drives are low noise and grip. It's so much fun chucking the car now, it always feels planted.
