The "Everyday" show-off thread !

Can you please highlight major advantages of wired cams over Wi-Fi.
I'm using 2 Mi 360 Wi-Fi cams, never had any issue. Am I missing out?
There are no benefits with wired cams if you have good wifi. Infact, you dont have to deal with wiring. I have put these Tapo cams and Yi cams before that at so many places for myself and my friends. These are a life saver to be honest.

Wired cams are good if you have spotty wireless coverage. But it's a lot easier to just wire a few APs in the house instead of wiring every cam.
I was skeptical at first as well, but my Tapo C200 is performing flawlessly since I got it a month ago. It holds around 7 days of continuous recording on a 64GB SD card. NVR based solutions with hardwiring make more sense if you have a lot of cameras on continuous recording/monitoring and it can overwhelm the wireless bandwidth.

Initially I was skeptical buying a wifi cam and got a budget of 25k + for wired setup but my mom asked me for a wireless cam for the time being so got this Tapo C200.
Impressed much with the performance so got these C310 too.
Yes wireless cams are equally good if you've some strong wifi coverage or some mesh network. if someone has internal wiring done or is planning for a new house then again I'll still vote for wired one.
Just for 2-4 cams it doesn't makes sense stretching and clipping wires all over the walls so wifi is the way to go.

I don't know, cams are meant for surveillance only.
In some cameras their is an option to enable notification or alarm for area intrusion detection and camera tampering.
To prevent theft of the outdoor cam unit ? no clue, but I think we should install it an a way that each cam should be in coverage area of other cam's focus. So other cam will trigger alarm or notification for motion detection.
And if someone if trying an attempt on all cams like some Hollywood movie then I guess a Rottweiler is required.

Me and my wife were searching for a rented house and while doing so came across a house that has motion detector built into a camera installed on top of the front door and also has an LED light which lights up when it detects motion nearby.
When I enquired where they bought it they said aliexpress but I think it wouldn't have any warranty right because cheap Chinese products but if anybody can get the same from any Indian brands or reputed international brands with warranty then it's a superb deal breaker indeed.

Only microSD card can be inserted. These and my previous TPlink C200 all cameras works with TAPO (TPlink's android app).
It can also be accessed on desktop (Windows) with 3rd party softwares like ispy and blue iris and more.
Once you access it on desktop you can choose any storage location on your desktop PC, any partition HDD SSD or pendrive.
Can we save to hdd attached to router ?

How does one prevent theft of an outdoor unit itself?
You cant. Its a risk you take. Wired units can also be stolen. Now if you tell me those are attached to the ceiling then, you can attach these too. I have been using since 2018. No one has taken any. Also I have one wifi cam That's attached almost at the ceiling that looks at the wifi cams that are within touching range. No one has dared to touch them since they know they'll get caught.

Also the very simple advantage of just having the camera that records audio and video, deters some kinds of assholes from acting smart. The day I put these up it reduced a lot of trouble, as soon as the trouble makers saw camera installed. Some I've kept in view just so that people know they're being watched. Even random people living many houses away know there are cameras. No one knows the limitations, Everyone thinks its being recorded somewhere else. and with TAPO cams I intend to do just that. Not just record but also upload to cloud just to be sure.

CCTV units that have 360 degrees of view can have footage of the guy who is stealing its outdoor unit and can be used legally to trace him right? Nowadays facial recognition have become advanced can be used by law enforcement to identify unless the stealer tries to hide his face.
Can the outdoor CCTV unit be put in a grill sealed to the wall. This is the only way to securely secure it and make it steal proof I mean. heh Heh. My 2 cents though.

They'll cover their faces.

The grill will interfere in the video.
You can just use a good mounting mechanism, but even then the lense will be subject to damage. Just hope you have the recording.

The grill should be made in such a way only to show or display the 360 degree outdoor unit camera angle showing only its angle and sealing the unit itself.
I like these units very much:Hikvision Ultra HD 2MP Cameras Combo KIT 8CH HD DVR, 5 Dome

I think you guys are overthinking about this. A thief will rather cover his face with a mask than try and find or come with a ladder and try to steal the cameras, unless he got a big order for CCTV cameras. [emoji23][emoji23]
These days there is no need to cover the face just use corona proof mask that's all.
