Definitely refurbished, you can check the date on the card it says 2018 in the screenshot and the other one has 2020.

Yeah, fair enough. I'll refrain from the reasons why.

Damages were 1.16L (256 GB model) from Samsung retail store (including screen guard and clear case).

So I did all as per that provided link description and the card seems to be responding. I have also been able to update the firmware to the latest and all looks well. I have ordered a qsfp28 cable and I guess that's going to be the litmus test before I declare it a dud.

S8 was released in 2017 right? S23 this year. So they just skipped all the model no in between or what!

They did S1 till S10. Starting from 2020, they started numbering the models based on year it launched in. So S20 = launch in 2020, S21 = launch in 2021 etc.
