Is anyone here using screenguard / screen protector on their iPad ? If yes then which brand are you using ? As of now i am using iPad with Folio case which keeps the iPad always closed when not in use. But i am not sure if i should keep it as it is or apply a screen protector.
Any suggestions for screen protector ? Is gadget sheildz good enough ? I have used it once long time back on Nokia 5230 and i was very pleased. Yes it requires doing that soapy water thing but still the end result was very good.

@Metalspree

So what screen guard would you recommend ? Apart from powersupport ? Is gadgetsheildz for iPad good ? The screen protector should not give the rainbow effect and should not affect touch screen experience.

You can try the Rock HD&AS. They have a good surface hardness of above 4H and won't scratch that easily. GadgetShieldz on the other hand is a rubbery type screen protector. So you'd lose out the feel of the touchscreen but it has much better scratch resistance

Apart from powersupport ?

ZAGG. Expensive but best. Amzer should be fine too but I don't trust the brand much.

A query on iPad3, I know one can't do calling using sim on iPad3 but any new update on this, any new App or something by which one could do calling with Sim? Im not asking of Skype or 3G.

No but I remember people talking of some App that could be used on iPad 1 & 2 to enable calling.

I feel this is a major-major chink in iPad3's armour. Usually one has single Sim on which 3G is enabled or a pack activated. Now imagine using this Sim on iPad3 & all the while you know nothing about your incoming call status. For a 3G enabled Tab, I feel calling is a must feature & this si where Samsung trumps Apple.

^If you know how Apple operates they are someone who do not create products within their portfolio that compete with each other to eat the sales. Its like if they included calling and such in iPad then their iPhone sales might go down, i know they are different products with different uses but still there is a possibility. So 3G calling etc might never come to apple products but then you never know.

3g calling is already there. Sim calling will come in iPad mini.

If it comes it will indeed be a great product. I am not sure what is the difference between 3G calling and SIM calling ? I am guessing that we cannot use iPad to call some phone number if we have 3G enabled on the iPad. Correct me if i am wrong.

3G calling is through your data plan, Skype or other softwares work here, it's basically on Internet. While Sim calling is the real catch, Note tab & tab 2 have this feature & many other tabs offer it now. Apple is left behind on this by a mile.

^^Yes the reason apple does not include that is basically marketing reasons and others i mentioned above. Sure the samsung products have them but it is a feature that can come handy at times but won't really replace your cell phone (barring few). So if you are someone who requires a tablet with phone functionality you can go ahead buy the galaxy tab or note tab as it will fulfill your requirements.
The thumb rule is buy that you think will suffice your needs and not something because others have it and it is cool and such.

Beyond my understanding, if apple does not have the feature, does that feature become irrelevant?
What kind of logic is that ?
Samsung tab have calling too, so does it mean that it competes with its phone ?

I did expect some anti apple comments to what i said above. First of all i NEVER mentioned it is irrelevant. I said it wont replace your phone entirely and the feature will be used but not always. Also i specifically mentioned the word "at times" which means the feature might be used (as per me) for those occasional instances. Then i specifically mentioned "barring a few" to denote people who would actually make use of this feature extensively.
And the tablet does not fully compete with a phone but there are people out there who would like to use both features of a tab and use it as a phone. But that population is very very miniscule. In fact i did see an ad of samsung tab 7" where the guy actually uses the 7" tablet as phone (traditional way, not bluetooth.)
You never read my comments before attacking right ?

I own an iPad3 Wifi 3G & 100% feel the lack of Sim calling is a big disadvantage. As I mentioned earlier, just think of it,

1) we usually have one cell phone, that translates into one Sim card.

2) For academic reasons, lets suppose someone has Two Sim cards or two phones.

3) Chances are that 3G plan would be activated on one sim.

4) Now imagine your single Sim or 3G activated Sim going into the iPad.

5) You are using the iPad for a couple of hours.

6) In the meantime what about your calls that come on that Sim/Number. You are totally in dark/unaware.

7) Here is where a Tab with Sim calling come in handy. Therefore a Tab with 3G is useless, unless it has calling facility.

8) A solo Wifi tab is a better option if calling is not required.

9) Apple or no Apple, features, ease of use, tech. should dictate a buy.

10) As of now iPad3 trails behind the tablets that offer calling facility.

11) Because of the lack of this particular feature, I'll be putting up my iPad 3G +Wifi for sale soon.

Also figure in the additional hassle of taking out sim from tab & putting it back into phone for calling. Or if you are using GPS in your car on iPad, phone in the meantime is dead. Therefore for a good tab, calling facility is a must if its 3G equipped.

^^That's precisely what i mentioned right ? You buy what you like and fulfills your needs. No one is forcing an apple device on you.

Irony, I came to know it doesn't make a call after buying it! So putting up on sale! What a useless piece of expensive junk it is!

Probably a better research would have helped to clear out the confusion. That's basically the reason i open threads on this and other forums to clear my doubts about a product i am planning to buy so i know what to expect (and what not) and don't regret after buying it.
Btw take care of that junk as in resale market it will sell well. You can put it up for sale on TE market.

I did research before but this fact did not occur to me, I could not think in my wildest thoughts that such an important feature would be missing. I mean Im amazed how a tab can be so popular without a core feature! Now I think of it & all becomes clear, its the "dumb" Americans choice, like we used to say back in the days. May also call it "hype did me in"!

Otherwise I've pretty much washed my hands of tablets, this was perhaps my last. The utility of tabs is limited, kayboard is still a must, a folio case a must too & those awful browsers, won't allow multiple windows. Im still unable to make a case for a tablet! Yup one thing I do know its one hell-of-a product for children & fairer sex. I'll stick to a proper Laptop & a Phone.

Will put of the listing here in a couple of days time. Its been lying unused in the box...

@teche

I completely agree with you regarding the usability of tablets. I know many people can leverage it to use it to its full potential and sometimes use additional accessories like bluetooth keyboard and such and more power to them, but for me too tablet is fun to play with and limited productivity (for me). I would anytime take a netbook over a tablet. But i love my iPad 2 also :)
