Is Nokia E5 a worth buy in 9k? Can you suggest me any other phone in the same price segment?

Same question for Wave II. Is it worth to buy in 16k?

I am not able to decide between these two? I know both the phones are poles apart. Actually, my budget is around 10k but I found wave II as VFM in 16k. I can increase my budget to 16k but I am afraid as don't want to waste my hard earned money.

Please show some light. Thank you.

^^ Wave II is a great piece of hardware for its price. Only the OS (Bada) currently disappoints regarding availibilty of good apps. If you are looking for a multimedia device, it is one of the best. The Wave II would cost you Rs.14,025 at letsbuy.com after applying the Reliance 15% off coupon.

Coupon Code:

E5 is good but not exactly VFM considering that it costs 10k+ where other competitors have better products like the LG Optimus One.

In sub-10k range, the LG Optimus One is the best buy. It will cost you about 8.7k after after discount at letsbuy.com as mentioned above.

Does that mean i9003 is better than others? and I could get it around 18k if I bargain well.

How is XCD35 ?

Rgds

The I9003 would cost you Rs.16,915 at letsbuy.com after applying the Reliance 15% off coupon.

XCD35 is a good phone but not exactly VFM as LG O1 easily beats it in all specs except screen-resolution.

Guys, wanna go Android way, but cant exceed budget by 10K. General consensus seems to be for the LG O1. Although the screen resolution is a downer. My question is how will it really affect normal usage, watching videos/movies, reading eBooks and stuff. Currently am using a Nokia 5230. The screen resolution is the only thing making me consider the ZTE Blade/San Francisco.

software front or hardware front.
hardware?

the GPU crunches more data than all the other processors on the list there combined. symbian^3 is almost completely gpu accelerated, so hats off to the software work too

just a 680Mhz processor doesn't make it's specs weak. The OS is so efficient in using the GPU that the CPU(actually a 772MHz part) has been underclocked, to save power as the extra juice isn't necessary. The testament is a lag-free stable OS.

If you have problems with the software, point it out at the specifics. And yes, I know the specifics, it's with the UI, not the software itself(or hardware, for that matter) which we complain of(and with reason too :P)

Well, why don't you save up a few months you know, add 2-3k to your budget that way. Right now your 5230 is great, so you can stick to it. The XCD 35 is already 11.3k, but lets see what 2 more months can do to it eh? no harm there.

right now, you're still good.

You can get XCD35 from ebay @ 11,150 and a 10% coupon would make it fit in your budget.

Thanks for the advise. What about HTC Wildfire? I heard some good reviews about it. It is around 11k after applying the coupon (Thanks for the coupon also).

@johnson_j16

Why are you hell-bent on the E7 ? It does not justifies its price either on the software front or hardware front. Here is a comparison between the E7 & Galaxy S I9000

v3g5t1.jpg

The Galaxy SL is just the same Galaxy S with S-LCD instead of S-AMOLED. Rest specs are same.
SL has a lower specced GPU, bigger battery and slightly thicker in size.

1. yes the gpu is a powervr sgx530. it's actually the lowest specced gpu right now

3. thicker since the slcd screen has more layers. that's 2 points down from amoled and thin size

Request guidance on buying a new mobile for my wife.

1. Q: Budget?
A: 5-9k.

2. Q: Preferred Form Factor(flip, bar, slider)?
A: Bar

3. Q: Preferred display type?
A: TFT

4. Q: Do you have any brand preference or dislike? Please name them.
A: Prefer Nokia. Open to other standard brands except Samsung - she did not like the interface last time (3 yrs back) & I had to change the phone within 2 months..

5. Q: Preferred input method (Touchscreen, QWERTY, etc.)?
A: Normal keypad.

6. Q: Camera required or not? If required, please specify type like front camera/flash/etc.
A: Not required.

7. Q: Preferred operating system? (Android, Symbian, iOS, Windows Phone etc).
A: No preferences.

8. Q: Preferred connectivity options? (3G, Wifi, Edge etc).
A: Nothing specific.

9. Q: What is your intended use for this phone(internet, camera, multimedia, mails, etc)?
A: Making phone calls! Need the "notes" function in the phone to store useful info.

10. Q: Any other requirements?
A: COLOR : RED .

11. Q: If you have already considered a phone then please mention the model.
A: Nokia C5, Nokia X3-02 (She liked it), Sony Cedar. LG O1 (with the RCom coupon on letsbuy, pricing is very attractive!). Wife liked X3-02 (design & color) but features-wise it seemed inferior to the C5. C5 seems very attractive in terms of VFM, only constraint is COLOR.

^Go for the Nokia X3-02. Girls/ladies(in general) do not mind lack of great tech in their phone. All they care about is looks (Cam and music at the most)

X3-02 is also no slouch. It has boat load of features (3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 5MP decent Cam. Only -ve is that it runs a S40 and not a Smart phone)

@DarkAngel:Thanks!

Probably will try to show her both & allow her to decide. Problem is that I live in a very small place where the shops are very reluctant to show anything other than the dummies. On the 360 views she was more inclined towards the X3-02. Will let you know after the buy.

I've been a nokia user ever since i got my first phone, I am planning to buy a phone within 7K(after applying the letsbuy coupon) I've narrowed it down to 2 phones - Nokia C5 and Sony Ericsson Elm. Feature wise, the Elm looks to be a winner, but the nokia C5 has symbian. I'm still a bit confused as i have no idea no SE is in terms of reliability. Both cost almost the same. So I'd love some suggestions. I would like some inputs.

My preferences is a VFM phone with decent camera and music capability, where i can read pdfs, and word documents too.

Regards,
Nj
